Predictions? I know absolutely nothing about the Cardinals. Can't even name a single player :blank:

Cardinals have a tendancy to come alive in the playoffs and pull off upsets. But, reminder that this was the team the sox beat in 04 when they finally broke the 86 year curse.

I think the Sox can do it again. Got a beard growing just for the cause.

World Series preview
"There's no scrappy, underdog story here. This is the Cardinals vs. Red Sox, equipped with the best records in baseball, each looking for their third title this century."
~ Steven Goldman | October 23, 2013

This year's World Series matchup is one of the three pairings of the two teams with the best records in their respective leagues, joining 1995 (Atlanta Braves vs. Cleveland Indians) and 1999 (New York Yankees vs. Atlanta Braves).

Both teams are battle-tested. The Cardinals emerged on top of the hyper-competitive NL Central and survived two difficult postseason rounds to reach this point.
The Red Sox played in a division that, with the Yankees not quite their usual selves, was perhaps not as competitive as it was just last year, but the continued success of the Orioles and Rays still made for a hazardous trip to the postseason.
The Rays didn't give them very much trouble in the first round, but the six-game struggle against the Tigers in the American League Championship Series misses being a classic perhaps only because it didn't go the full seven games.
The Red Sox barely hit, struck out 73 times in 193 at-bats, and barely outscored the Tigers for the series as a whole. Perhaps the Tigers lost the series as much as the Red Sox won it, but you can't say that the Sox did not seize hold of the breaks when they came their way.

There's no telling what kind of Series this will be . . .

Is there really no one to replace Drew? Good on defense but he's got to be the most infuriating players I've seen when at bat. IMO there's no way that his defense warrants him playing when he's an automatic strikeout.

I know Drew is playing some very very good short stop. But IMO you have to go to X at SS and Middlebrooks at 3b.

Why the hell is Salty playing tonight? Guy's been a strikeout machine and isnt nearly as good as Ross defensively.

At this point Salty's not a big problem to me. Now Drew on the other hand is gonna give me an ulcer. They need someone who can hit the freaking ball already.

I gave sunshine an and-1 cause I too wanted to see Middlebrooks at 3rd (and Xander at his natural SS), but now...

He's gotta have that ball. At least hit it down. Totally unacceptable.

They need to get their crap together or it's over. To hell with Drew and Salty. Neither of them are hitting and in Drew's case the defense isn't worth an automatic strikeout. If those changes aren't made then... :blank:

1. Jacoby Ellsbury, CF
2. Daniel Nava, RF
3. Dustin Pedroia, 2B
4. David Ortiz, DH
5. Jonny Gomes, LF
6. Xander Bogaerts, 3B
7. Stephen Drew, SS
8. David Ross, C
9. Clay Buchholz, SP

Ross in instead of Salty and Victorino is out with lower back tightness.

Huh. Maybe it was a good idea putting Gomes back in. 8-)

well last night was a big night for them. It would make me feel better if they took tonights game as well, but even if they went back to Boston im confident they can still pull it out down 3-2.

this team has so much heart. ortiz should be MVP in my opinion if they win.

Red Sox World Series 2013 Champions!

WALTHAM — They are two different teams in different sports on opposite ends of the spectrum: one on the cusp of a title, the other in the infancy of rebuilding.

But Jeff Green sees comparisons between the Red Sox and Celtics.

“They are my inspiration,” the Celtics swingman said after practice Tuesday.

“I’ve been watching them the last couple of years and nobody thought they would be at the point they are right now with guys who just came out of nowhere and played together. They are all on the same page. They are getting the job done. Now they have a great chance of winning the World Series.”

The Red Sox can clinch the World Series title — their third in 10 years — by beating the St. Louis Cardinals in Game 6 Wednesday night at Fenway Park.

How fitting would it be, if the Red Sox ended their season as Champions -- the same night, that the "Green" Celtics begin theirs?
Let the Rebuild continue, from Red to Green . . .
