Second losing week of the season. The rookies are playing well. Contreras' pitch framing has been on par with David Ross so far which is very good. A series with the Reds should get them back on track. Then a tough series in NY. They should be able to go at least 9-5 from here until the all-star break. It would be nice if they could come back form the break healthy and ready to get back on track.

Theo and Hoyer need to find some bullpen help. Give the Yankees what they want for Andrew Miller and Chapman. Yes, it'll be expensive but it will be worth it. Strop, Miller and Rondon through 2018 with Chapman and Wood the rest of this year. That means you can pull Hammel/Hendricks after 5 innings in the playoffs and not worry about the bullpen. I realize that it probably costs Schwarber, Gleyber Torres and Billy McKinney for Chapman and Miller, but that is well worth it.

They need to get a bullpen arm or two in via trade. Like now. And it doesn't have to be some elite player like Andrew Miller or Aroldis Chapman or even Sean Doolittle. This bullpen, outside of Rondon, continues to be pathetic at best.

No wonder the rumors had us gunning for two stud bullpen arms. The final piece to this World Series run is an elite bullpen. Bringing in two guys, one to close and one to setup, would bump everybody down. Having Strop, Rondon, and Wood as our 6th and 7th inning guys would be lethal.

Nice 15th inning for the offense. They really need to just give the Yankees the pieces it will take to get Miller and Betances. That would set the bullpen through 2018. They would have every needed piece to make a run this year and next. The rotation would be interesting after 2017 as Hammel, Lackey and Arrieta will all be FAs, but we'll deal with that when we get there.

I'd like to not give up Ian Happ or Eloy Jimenez though as Happ should be up next year and start at 2B in 2018. Happ just got promoted to AA where he has continued to swing a hot bat hitting over .700 in his first 5 games after posting a .296/.410/.426 in high A. Eloy Jimenez is my guess to take over RF when Heyward opts out in a few years. Eloy is hitting .341/.380/.551 in A ball and he doesn't turn 20 until November. He should get a bump to high A soon. If it had to be Happ over Torres so be it. Torres can slide over from SS to 2B when he comes up.

Nice luxury to have (10 game lead) where you can be "crazy".

At least they swept the Reds. Win the games you should and stay in good shape. Now let's take at least 2 in NY.

11 up! There is an outside chance they could be 15 up at that break. For a team that everyone knows needs to upgrade the bullpen that isn't too bad a place to be.

The bullpen dumpster fire is starting to burn out of control.

I'd rather they play like crap for a few weeks in July than a few weeks in September and October. The return of Fowler and finding some bullpen help could go a long ways. Nine of their last 18 losses have been in one run games.

Montero is 4th in baseball in pitch framing and putting up a decent .314 OBP which is only .005 below leave average for the position. He is also helping coach up Contreras who is taking over the position.
