Thought should have a new thread.

Hendricks brilliant through 6. Wonder if Maddon's quick hook would've worked better this game, though season showed Ross patience was good. Playoff Heyward is back and Brizzo with the 0-8. Need a big game from Yu and offense to show a pulse.

Maybe one more at bat for Bryant, Rizzo, and Baez to fix their combined .100 batting average since 2017 post season?

Never in my 60 years as a baseball fan have I seen a team with so many high reputation players fail so miserably in the playoffs. Yeah, they won that coveted title and no one can take that away, but since then, it's been head-scratchingly maddening.

Contreras at C is a star. Bryant at 3rd is a star. Baez...star. Rizzo...star. Schwarber...potential star. This season, they've gotten very good performances from Heyward, Kipnis and Happ (in truth, RF, 2B and CF were considered their weaknesses coming into the season, but they turned out to be their strengths). They changed managers and when the chips were down, it was same old same old.

If I was the FO of this team, I'd want to blow my brains out.

60 game mirage. Pitching was good enough for some wins and the unexpected contributions of some for a few after a nice start the first 15 games. Tough to make any conclusions after a season like this but feel like we'd have struggled mightily playing 162. Agree with transplant that it was maddening as no star really did anything for a significant stretch, if at all.
