I really hope he doesn’t. We have a bounty of older, injury prone players as it is. No more, please.

Yes. Embrace the LeVengers. Team USA can send young guys to Los Angeles in 2028.

Nah, it's going to Christian Laettner.
Brian Geltzeiler: You see Mark Jackson getting a head coaching job as early as next year?

Adrian Wojnarowski: Not if people make calls on him. Not if an organization is doing their homework and knows all the things he brings with him.

Yea it's weird. Ant is a pretty good defender, but he'll probably be coming off the bench. Bam and AD are good as well, but they are bigs.

You can have the silver or bronze! lol

It's just 1 game and SGA/Murray can go off easily. We're gonna take that medal just like we did this past summer :)
Another bronze, yeah, maybe so. You could potetinally get 4th, which according to sober Ricky Bobby's dad isn't all that bad.

Makes sense. Team gets a little older and more injury prone though with Kawhi.

Whichever of the Celtics, Wolves, Lakers and Suns go deep into the playoffs are the obvious ones. (Even worse for the Celtics in that respect is if Porzingis gets Olympic run, but I haven't tracked whether that's likely.)

I mean the training camp for team USA is 10 days and then they'll have to play six games in 15 days assuming they'll reach the medal round. After that they'll have almost 3 months until NBA camps begin. My point is that the tiredness from playing in Olympics is kinda overstated.

Embiid gets injured qnd doesn't play, USA gets upset by one of the teams with quality bigs like Serbia, Lithuania or France.

This will be easy, lol. Whenever the US sends its best players it’s not particularly close.

I don’t get this comment. The young guys completely screwed up in FIBA. Send the old guys and let them dominate.

5 point game and 7 point game is not close I guess. Or they didn't send their best in 2012. It's 2024 now and the best players in the world are not American.

Correct, and I too think it won't be a walk in the park, but at the same time I feel like the competition isn't as good as Spain was a decade ago. Europe has the better top players, but still has to play catch up when it comes to depth. France is certainly getting there, but I think these Olympics are coming a few years too early.

Of course USA still wins it’s got the population size and talent pool of at least 5 European countries. The fairer match will be Team USA vs Team Europe let’s see if Americans will still show off and talk trash they’d be **** their pants. Team USA rn reminds me of Lebron teams before always stacking the deck and acting as if it’s a huge achievement when they win like dude you got all the best players and talent ofc you will and should(!!!) win and and win easily (which Lebron never did and team USA also having a hard time these past few Olympics)

The team is old because the best American players are old. That's an issue for USA which will get worse in the coming years.Still this is a loaded roster, as usual for the Olympics, and Kerr realised that you need many bigs and size in FIBA game. Going from a Frontline of JJJ, Portis and Kessler to Embiid, Davis, Adebayo is quite an upgrade.

Also is it me or do we have no answer for Wemby or Jokic on this team?

There’s one thing this team is clearly missing: a speedster.

There’s one roster spot left, and I’d pick Fox.

Lack of elite speed and agility at the guard position is what gives the rest of the world a chance when comprising these rosters. The world has a shot when Team USA continues to not send that sort of player. I think that they heavily favor pick and roll defense and spot up shooting at that position. Fox and Donovan Mitchell would be additions that would give Team USA an overpowering speed/athleticism advantage.

What do you think a Team Europe roster would look like?

That's compared to the rest of the world, not any individual country. Obviously the U.S. still has by far the best individual team. I doubt you'd find anyone serious who disputes that.

True, though Sarr is still 18 and very green offensively. Defensively they’ll be tough though. We’ll need to hit our 3’s that game and run a lot of PnR to draw those guys away from the basket.

Do people really think Sarr has a chance to make France NT? I figured he won't be in a mix at all, but I am not familiar with his game. France has bigs in the NBA and Euroleague superclubs, they are in no need for 18 year old kids.

Maybe Risacher has a shot since France is so thin on perimeter oriented forwards.
