Minor League playoff/Knob Slobbing thread

Post#1 » by studcrackers » Fri Sep 5, 2008 7:18 am

I figured id make this thread, for one b/c this is the only playoffs the rangers franchise can make consistently, we've got 4 teams in the PO's

the 2nd reason i made this thread is to slobber about our 2 top pitching 'spects Neftali Feliz and Derek Holland, both will likely be top 30 guys next year and right now are just on the top of there games

Game 1 Derek Holland
7.1 IP
2 H
1 ER
1 BB
5 K's

in 5 starts in AA Frisco he's given up 3 ER! 34 K's in 33.1 IP's and 162 K's in 157 IP, thank god for the draft and follow (RIP)

and we still have to get to Feliz

Game 2 Feliz

7 IP
3 H
0 ER
2 BB
11 K's

gives him 164 K's on the year

now come in here and crap on what hopefully amounts to 2 great SP's for the rangers

I can't hate on Feliz or Holland because I actually like them, which sucks because I would love to say they suck just to put doubt in your mind about the Rangers future. But lets be honest, the only way they are going to have successful careers is to be traded away as history dictates.

They are one of the top 5 pair of prospect starters in an organization out there with the A's, Giants, Rays, and Orioles.

Anyway the Texas League decided because Springfield had Brett Wallace and Daryl Jones it would be unfair to let them in the playoffs. It's pretty crappy that Springfield finished 14 games better than Arkansas but Arkansas made the playoffs and Springfield didn't.

Evan Anundsen pwned Lake County tonight.

7 IP
2 H
0 ER
1 BB
6 K

Deciding game between West Virginia and Lake County tomorrow night. If they lose, all the Brewers affiliates are done for the season.

Madison Bumgarner pitched awesome in game one of the Sal playoffs. Eight scoreless with 10 strikeouts. Nick Noonan and Angel Villalona have also played well.

Buster Poesy had a solid first playoff game in San Jose. The Giants farm system has arguably risen into the top five.

West Virginia starts a guy with a 20 ERA and he gets rocked for 7 earned through 1. Nice.

Can you believe how long it's been since the Rangers developed a starting pitching and didn't trade him immediately? Seriously, it's been almost 20 (1989) years since a good starting pitcher broke into the league with the Rangers and stayed there for more than a season. That's unbelievable. Just completely unfathomable actually. Even weirder is that it was 1989 when both Kenny Rogers and Kevin Brown played their first full season in the majors.

Yeah, Seidel was on fire going into the playoffs allowing only 2 earned runs in his last 26.2 innings.

They're going to get owned tomorrow again. Madison Bumgarner vs Dan Merklinger. Eep.

GreenJackets are the Sal Champs, really good team this year. Watch out for San Jose next year.

Adam, Ventura, Marks, Sample, Arguelles, Melville, Chapman are all premium prospects in Class A that would make many other teams' top-15 prospects or so.

Man, really? An almost 3 year old thread? And you're doing this for the sake of one extra post?
