Last I read about him he donated some money to the Purdue Basketball Program and they put up his name in the gym or something.

Didn't he join the Spurs before the post-season a couple years ago? I think he was playing pretty well off the bench and then his mom died during the championship series against the Cavs. As far as I know that was the end of him.

He won a ring with the Spurs in 2004 IIRC, then rode into the sunset. He provided some nice spark off the bench for them. It was really weird to see him in a Spurs jersey.

I was a huge Big Dog fan.. I always wonder about him when I see players still playing that were drafted the same year.

I read an article a few months ago that said Glenn is living in Indiana watching his son play on a JV squad (forgot where specifically).

Yeah Glenn got a ring in San Antonio. He didn't play much, but I remember a 5 minute spurt where he blocked 3 shots and the announcer made some joke about George Karl wondering where all that defense came from.

I think he had one of the best mid-range jumpers ever. A lost (or almost lost) art IMHO.

Ahh big hog Robinson. I was actually thinking this exact same thing a while ago. I still don't understand why we couldn't have just given the big three one more year together. F-ing Anthony Mason.

He was as automatic and reliable as a player can get. I did like watching him play, quite a bit, though I wasn't overly upset to see him go. By then it was time to make a change.

Beyond liking him as a player, i'll always have a soft spot for how nice he was to my daughter right before he got traded. She and some other kids won the right to meet the players and go into the locker room. Many of the players weren't rude or anything, but didn't exactly go out of their way either to take time to be overly nice either. Glenn though and Tim Thomas were great, both went out of their way to talk to all the kids and make sure they enjoyed the experience. I also know someone who met Glenn at a bar and my friend told me that Dog was very friendly and talked with him for a bit.

Always nice to hear stories like that in a league where the player norm often seems to be the opposite.

The best Big Dog story I heard was from a friend of mine. He went to a Sunday afternoon game where the team got blown out by 30 or so. He left the game as the horn sounded and went to Sears to buy some tools. Once he arrived at Sears he saw Big Dog in the hardware aisle purchasing a power drill and wondered how the hell Big Dog was able listen to the Chris Ford postgame talk, shower, dress and still beat him to Sears.

This thread is too positive. Can we get some pessimists in here to spin this negatively.

We couldn't afford him even if we wanted to bring him back for one last run due to being in salary hell. :)

if we can't get pessimists, can we afford sarcasm-ists or irony-ists, will they work for negative cap space?
