Jordan on what he likes most about the Princeton offense: “Because it reminds us about how basketball is supposed to be played. It’s a five-man team. It got to a point in the early ’90s that the NBA was a stagnant, 1-on-1, isolation (game with) three guys on one side and you have one guy go to work and the defense had to stand outside the lane. … When (former Princeton coach Pete) Carril said this is not Princeton’s offense — this is the Celtics offense of the ’60s and the Knicks offense of the ’70s. Darn it, I LOVE Eddie Jordan. That IS a coach. Someone who knows and loves the game of basketball.
Everything he said in that meeting was spot on. My favorite part was him telling it like it is. He's been telling it like it really is.

Like Theo told it how it is in the playoff loss. I LOVE guys who tell it like it is.

You are right- and I am just trying to forget last year as far as Lou is concerned. I'm hoping his problems can be attributed to being put in a bad role (the scorer and PG surrounded by an offensively crippled 2nd unit.)

Tom- I am desperate to learn that L.Will/Iggy/Young really did improve their 3 point shooting this summer during and after Mark Price's camp. Any indication yet that this is true?

I knew Div. 1 college bench players that could hit 3's at will in pickup games. Did that translate into points during games? No. While they're fooling around, they will always hit. During the season, we will find out what has really changed. Hopefully everything. I'm sure all the shooting will help Iggy, Thad, and Lou- the repetition will surely help.

Young said he worked a lot on his shooting and ball-handling -- he says Jordan told him he'd play anywhere from the 1 to the 4. He improved his 3-point shooting from 31.6 percent as a rookie to 34.1 percent last year while having the confidence to take 164 3s -- 145 more than as a rookie.

Iguodala didn't do that much in the summer of 2008 because he was negotiating a new contract. I like that he worked with Price and associate Bruce Kreutzer.

Williams has an opportunity to start and play major minutes. Improving his perimeter shooting would be a big help.

The ironic thing about what Ratliff said after the season-ending loss to the Magic was that it had nothing to do with Tony DiLeo -- Ratliff was upset that his role had been reduced due to Dwight Howard's suspension. That's it. Most of the players preferred playing defense with Ratliff, instead of Dalembert, because Ratliff was consistent -- they knew what to expect from him, as opposed to with Dalembert.

Tom, can you find out if Thad has grown a bunch since he was drafted?

Look at these predraft measurements:

Brand: 6’8.25 / 6’9.5 (Without/with shoes)
Young: 6’5.75 / 6’7.5

Now look at the press conference:

I know Thad has bulked up, but has he grown 2-3" taller since the draft? He was not quite 19 when those pre-draft measurement were taken, so maybe he is PF sized now? That said, he needs to be the SF.

I think Speights or Smith need to show they have made strides defensively before they can give away Sam for cap relief.

Yeah, Thad must have grown since he was 2.5 inches shorter than Brand before the draft and the same height as Iguodala. Looks like he's about 6'9" in shoes now. Still doesn't make him a PF, though.

Yeah, Speights at C would be the next step. Like I said, with Speights it's he can either be: Amare or Chris Wilcox.

Obviously hoping for Amare. He showed Amare up when they played that game against PHX.

This is a photo from media day last year. It looks like Brand has an inch on iguodala, about the same as Thad. Though, I realize this photo isn't as ideal as the side to side picture of Brand and Thad.

Without shoes Brand measured 6'8.25" without shoes, compared to Iguodala's 6'5.75'. The NBA officially lists players with their height in shoes (i.e. Dwight Howard Measured 6'9" without shoes). He's not as undersized as people claim.
