NBA Sim League

Postby Blind0188 on Wed Jul 21, 2010 9:42 am

The NBA DB Sim League is now open to all! Become a GM by selecting which team you wish manage!

Can you show Ferry how to put a team around LeBron?

Will you succeed where Cuban and Donnie have not?

Can anyone solve the financial mess Otis has left the Magic in?

Someone on here can solve the problems that face the teams in the NBA.

Why not prove it?

Think of the Sim League as if it were a video game like NBA 2K or Live. DirkLebron is the commissioner of our league who also runs the Chicago Bulls. He lets us pick the teams and make changes to our rosters. Trades, free agents, position changes, depth charts, etc... Then he just goes onto the game and makes the changes. He then simulates on his game and posts what the results were. He actually has a program called Fast Break Basketball(FBB). This is the actual program that will take care of the simulation of games.

Here is the link to start selecting teams: http://dbsimleague.yuku.com/forums/65

When selecting a team:
Post your DB user name
Your 1st option team
Your 2nd option team (In case your first has already been taken)
Your IM user name (We prefer AIM)
All of this goes on the thread provided on the link!

There is a chat screen on the site if you have any questions. You can also post on this thread if you have any questions regarding the league. There are only 2 teams left, Lakers and Pistons!

I'm starting up a new DDSPB2 league prior to the upcoming season. For those of you who don't know what DDSPB2 is, it's a text-based simulation program that I will be using to sim the games. Basically, in a nutshell, you become the GM of a team and are responsible for everything a real-life GM does such as trading players, signing players, drafting players, etc. If you're interested, please PM me and I'll reply A.S.A.P. with all the necessary information you need. Thanks!

Recruiting for a SOM Hoops League

Hello RealGM members.

My name is Mark and I am recruiting for a Strat-O-Matic PC basketball league that I am starting up. My reason for looking here is that I'm both trying to increase interest in the game/hobby that is SOM and add members from a fresh base.

First, here is a link to the SOM game site:

http://www.strat-o-matic.com/products/s ... -edition-0

The PC version of the game is a computerization of the original card-dice game. It is a wonderful strategy game that captures much of the in-game decisions that all NBA head coaches face. When to go to the second-unit? Do I double-team? Shoot a three or penetrate against a slow-footed defender. Use a big burly block guy in the middle or create a mismatch and go "small" with a Murphy/Frye-type big in the middle, jacking up treys. Games take about 45 minutes to play.

It is this aspect of control (in-game stuff) that is why I play sport strategy games over fantasy games.

However, what my league does (and others) is to realistically simulate all the contract and salary cap decisions. What player is truly earning his paycheck? Who do you need to move? What rook can help me out now or do I wait a bit for a bigger payoff, ala Roddy Buckets.

The goal of my league, and others out there in the SOM community, is to provide the hobbyist with FULL control of a basketball franchise. The highs, the lows...the chases for titles, the low pick that makes you feel like a genius...it's all here with Strat-O-Matic.

Here is a link to a fine community site that is dedicated to all of Strat's sports:

http://www.stratfanforum.com/forums/

As you will see, baseball is SOM's most popular game and then football. Hockey and Hoops have smaller support, hence my desire to expand the game's reach. As someone who has played all of Strat's game, I can honestly state that the basketball game that comes the closest to simulating the "feel" of an NBA game.

Below is my league posting from the Strat Fan Forum site:

BRASShoops endeavors to be a league set apart from other leagues out there. Among its highlights:

1. A realistic salary system with a 75 million hard cap.
2. 24 teams, 56 game schedule with a regular season finished before baseball starts.
3. 12 team playoffs.
4. A truly unique consolation tournament to reward the #1 draft pick to the tourney winner.
5. Rewards for your league contributions in league monies.
6. A traveling trophy and keepsake to mark your historic victory.
7. A league newsletter that looks to give the league a higher level of interaction than the plethora of e-mail that punctuate current leagues.
8. Time-tested rules that create a stimulating simulation and keep the league flowing and not getting bogged down by the 'weak-link.'
9. In-game rules that recognize that players are not our little robots.
10. A unique twist to a salary start-up that make initial decisions immediately critical.

Please e-mail your interest to Mark at el.marco.mn@gmail.com. I will reply promptly with documents for your perusal.

Or feel free to chat me up on AIM. My id is chewiex.

Thank you all in advance for your interest.

Hello fellow RealGM users.

I have a new FBB league, starting from the 2006 - 2007 NBA season. I have ran many leagues over the years and all of my past leagues have been very succesful. League just opened so most teams are still open(only taken teams are cavs, warriors and lakers). Join while the good teams are still open!

25 teams left, National hoops looking for GM

Postby NationalHoops on Wed Aug 11, 2010 10:44 pm

Hi guys, I would want to promote my fantasy simulation league and real NBA rosters for 2009 and 2010 season. I am looking for General Managers to join us. Here is a little more about our league.

The National Hoops Association is a NBA Based simulation league, simulate and generate results on a current season. The idea of building NHA is to have a realistic sim system and real time information to the members of the league, we believe that a part from the success of each team relies on valid, accurate and full information regarding stats of there players and there team. That is why we design a interactive website that will cater player pages and team pages for each team that will display and provide information regarding stats and salaries. With the idea behind the sim system we also set a standard on realistic play aswell as franchise management including Salary cap rules, player agents for off season free agency as we look on applying what is also being run on the NBA atleast a few but not all.

All internal management will be held in the forums, a part from that the National Hoops Association is focus on media articles, a media driven league that serves as a basis of General Managers activity within the league. The league demands a high level of participation and dedication thru its members. There is also a multitude of rules and regulations in place to protect the integrity of the league,

The commissioner of our league posted a topic here about a week back, but we currently have a few spots open we're looking to fill. I'm the original founder of the league, which was started 10 years ago back in 2000. We're in the offseason now, with our Draft this Sunday, and Free Agency soon to follow. Our 11th season kicks off in October.

We have a high standard for who we hire, but if you're interested in applying, feel free to message me, or sign up for our community and post your interest.

Warriors, Nets, Pacers are open in our SIM league. We're a super-active league, we're in the middle of the offseason with free agent signings underway starting on Sunday.

The Nets have $35,586,378 in capspace and two bright young stars. The Pacers are stocked full of youth and have $25,457,382 in capspace. The Warriors have a few star veterans and a mix of youth; no capspace but set for another playoff run...
