D League Training Camp Rosters- who will stay on?

Post#1 » by jman3134 » Sat Nov 6, 2010 7:43 pm

Here is a thread where we can discuss former college players and whether or not they will make their respective D league roster. Post training camp rosters and we can talk about it. The D League season opens up in roughly two weeks.

I'll begin.

Here is the Erie Bayhawks' roster:

Tasheed Carr, 24 (6-4, 210, G, St. Joseph's)
Jared Carter, 24 (7-1, 270, C, Kentucky)
Jimmy Conyers, 24 (6-5, 220, G/F Akron)
Kyle Goldcamp, 24 (PF, 6-10, 230, Gannon)
David Gomez, 24 (6-7, 240, F, Tulane)
Jarvis Gunter, 25 (PF, 6-10, 220, Arkansas-Pine Bluff)
Cedric Jackson, 24 (PG, 6-3, 190, Cleveland State)
Ivan Johnson, 26 (6-8, 230, PF, Cal St.-San Bernadino)
Nate Linhart, 23 (F, 6-8, 205, Akron)
Tasmin Mitchell, 24 (F, 6-7, 240, LSU)
Charlie Parker, 25 (G, 6-4, 195, Millersville)
Derek Raivio, 24 (6-3, 177, G, Gonzaga)
Maureece Rice, 26 (G, 6-1, 225, George Washington)
Dawan Robinson, 28 (6-3, 195, G, Rhode Island)
Kyle Spain, 23 (6-5, 220, G, San Diego State)
Frank Tolbert, 24 (G/F 6-4, 205, Auburn)

I can honestly say that Tasmin Mitchell is probably going to be guaranteed a spot. Spain, Tolbert, and Dawan Robinson are making this squad. Nate Linehart should make it and so should Cedric Jackson. I would suggest that Raivio, Carr, and Rice have a good shot as well. At the guard spots, this team is pretty stacked, and I would not be shocked to see some of these guys move over to another D League team if they miss the 10 man roster.

Brandon Brooks, G, 6-2, 187 (Alabama St.)
Tweety Carter, G, 5-10, 185 (Baylor)

Zabian Dowdell, G, 6-3, 190 (Virginia Tech)
Jerome Dyson, G, 6-3, 180 (Connecticut)
Steven Hill, C, 7-0, 250 (Arkansas)
Marlon Jones, C, 6-9, 268 (Oklahoma City)
Marcus Lewis, C, 6-8, 245 (Oral Roberts)

Perry Stevenson, F, 6-9, 220 (Kentucky)
Devin Sweetney, F, 6-5, 205 (St. Francis, Pa.)

I think that Larry Owens, Vaden, Williams, and Dowdell are guaranteed spots already. Then you have former college players that will make the team like Elijah Millsap, Jerome Dyson, and Tweety Carter.

The three remaining spots will probably go to big men: I give Marcus Lewis and Steven Hill the best chances there.

I would like to see Brandon Brooks beat out some of these guys for a roster spot. He is pretty talented and deserves it. (despite the fact that former USC standout Brandon Brooks was probably the better prospect here)

I would say that the returning players will stay on: Ingram, Kruger, Jefferson, Greene, Hamilton, and Brady. Then you bring in Longar Longar, NBA affiliates Evan Brock and Ryan Thompson, and one open roster spot. (unless some of these returning players get outplayed. The last spot will probably go to Brandon Costner, who is very talented. But, I would say that Ricky Shields has a good shot at outplaying someone and making the team.

I expect Major, Brandon Johnson, and Boo Jackson to definitely make the squad. Gerrity, Pickett, and Kemp have an outside shot as well. Diggs is also very good. Overall, this may be the least competitive D League training camp.
