Spezza or Briere

Post#1 » by Andrea>Dirk » Mon Apr 2, 2007 9:36 pm

I found this one really intriguing, but I'd go with Spezza due to the size advantage

I'd also go with Spezza. I like his skill set a bit better. IMO he has a better ice vision then Briere. Briere is faster, but Spezza has just as good of hands and is taller and stronger. Closer then most would think though.

I'll go with Spezza too, he's bigger and more skilled than Briere

Yeah, Spezza is a great teamate and a great player. Nothing agenst Briere but Spezza to me is one of the best pure playmakers in the league.

Lol, just for the heck of it I am going to go against you guys. I'm going with Briere on this one due to his obvious skills, speed and HEART. Spezza is a good player, but could play with more intensity at times, and not coast out there. Where as Briere is ALWAYS going. Does size really matter now in the "New NHL"? I mean sure it does, but smaller players are now able to make a name for themselves. Also it really bugs me how Spezza is always doing drop passes to players that aren't there... So yeah... going with Briere on this one.

I respect your opion but your really overvaluing Tanguay, Spezza is all ready alot better then him in every single aspect of the game today. Look at the Sens record with Spezza in vs. with him out, having both Heatley and Alfy playing on your line helps but Spezza has a knack for making the play look better then it really is. I remember seeing him play for the Brampton Battalion and was like wow this kid is the real deal, bought his Brampton Battalion jersey the very next day.

Look at what he did in the lockout season in the AHL 32 goals 85 assists and 117 points in just 80 games with the Binghamton Senators.

This playoffs have shown that this statement cant be further from the truth. Briere has dissapeared in a few games this post season while Spezza has been fantastic throughout.

These playoffs have shown that Spezza is the better player and I would prefer him to be on my team if I had a choice.
