Scouting the Draft- Kyle Turris

Post#1 » by Crowned » Wed Jun 6, 2007 3:44 am

Kyle Turris

Height: 6'0/6'1
Weight: 170-175 pounds
Team: Burnaby Express (Junior A- BCHL)
Projected Range: 1-4

Thoughts: Kyle Turris does it all offensively. He's one of the better skaters in the draft, and one of the more polished offensive players available. He still has a ton of potential as well. If he's one of the better offensive players in the draft, matched with a ton of potential, you could only imagine what he's capable of in a few years. He's extremely quick, with a good shot, good puck handling skills and can set up the goals, as stated above, he's polished offensively. He could very well go first overall based on team needs, and has a strong chance to do so. Turris would look good next to Havlat and Toews in Chicago, will it happen?

Needs to work on: It seems to be an ongoing trend in this years draft, but Turris needs to work on his strength and size. He has a slightly trim frame, and could use some additional weight added onto his height.

Although he is very skinny, the kid performed very well in the combine. Showed strentgh beyond his size, so this is very promising. He has that wirey strentgh. Very talented player.

He's gaining strength, sure. However, he's going to be matched up with men very shortly, and he's nowhere ready physically for that IMO. Turris is a center, and to maintain that position in the NHL, there's no doubt that he'll need to work on his strength. I really like Turris, and think he has the potential to be one of the best players out of the draft.
