Edwin Jackson agrees to 1 yr deal with Nats. Dammit, I know he was working on a deal with Boston.

Our division just keeps getting better and better, and harder and harder. And I'm frustrated that we have hardly caused a ripple. Just not liking this at all. Oh well, hope Wren knows what he is doing.

Our front office seems to be the type that needs negative things to occur before they make changes. They aim for the wild card, not the division at this point, and the wild card will probably only occur since the league will have two of them.

Solid signing by the Nats.

Mr. Microscope.

According to Gerry Fraley of the Dallas Morning News, Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton was spotted drinking alcohol on Monday night at a bar in the Dallas area. http://rangersblog.dallasnews.com/archi ... ton-h.html

I really hate that for him. He is such a talent, and had battled that demon for years. I hope this is a quick thing and he gets back on track. When the bottle gets a hold of someone, it is relentless. And unfortunately, the bottle has a high winning % against a mere man. I'm pulling for you Josh.

Marlins going after Cespedes. Good grief, can we get a break and have him sign in another Division? Tired of our Division making the splashes.

Oakland is the only other team I support. The organization had some good news to announce.

Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports reports that the A's have signed Cuban center fielder Yoenis Cespedes.
Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle says the deal is worth $36 million over four years, beating the record six-year, $30.25 million contract that the Reds handed Aroldis Chapman in January 2010 by a wide margin. It's an incredibly surprising move by the supposedly cash-strapped A's. Cespedes carries great hype and has the potential to contribute at the major league level in his first year, but the A's have quite a few holes to patch before they can be considered competitive. And the "prospect" they just signed is already 26 years old. He'll make $9 million per year before hitting the free agent market again heading into the 2016 season. The contract will be finalized in about 10 days. Cespedes has already passed a physical, an identity investigation, and a drug test.

The Yankees actually think they deserve value for A.J. Burnett? Wow! I hope the Pirates stand pat and offer as little as possible.

I agree, the Yankees are trying to strong arm the Pirates.

It's going to be nice not seeing Ibanez on Philly.

Jon Heyman of CBSSports.com reports that the Yankees won't "finalize" deals for Raul Ibanez and Eric Chavez until A.J. Burnett is officially traded to the Pirates. Source: Jon Heyman on Twitter

The Yankees no longer bother me much. I've always found Cub fans to be the most annoying.

The Nats have locked Ryan Zimmerman up in a six year extension.

Jim Bowden of MLB Network Radio reports that Ryan Zimmerman will earn $100 million with his new six-year extension.
Bowden also says he'll get the no-trade clause he was looking for. The new deal is added on to the end of his current contract, meaning he'll earn $126 million over the next eight years, with the Nationals holding an option for 2020 that could bring the deal to a total of $150 million. Interestingly, the guaranteed money is the exact same amount Jayson Werth signed for last offseason, though Werth's deal was for seven years. The third baseman is a career .288/.355/.479 hitter across seven seasons, all of which, of course, he has played for the Nationals.

Something to look forward to for 6 more years. Mr. Zimmerman at the plate facing our Braves.

Considering the Braves love the hometown discount and B-Mac grew up a stone's throw away from Turner Field, I could see them coming to an arrangement for about the same as Molina, even though B-Mac is definitely worth more.

The Angels are considered the front-runner for Roy Oswalt. He is a shell of his former self but I hope he stays out of the NL.

Return to Atlanta Braves
