The idea that Wolf and Narveson are good enough to make up that gap is ludicrous. That's exactly what I'm talking about with the homer bias. Wolf is a very good #4, but Narveson is just... blah.

Greinke spent his entire career until last year pitching in the AL, Marcum the same in the AL East. The Giants top three have spent their entire careers in San Francisco, one of the best pitchers parks in the game and also playing in San Diego the best pitchers park in the game as well as Dodger Stadium another great pitchers park. They're all very good pitchers, though they (especially Cain) have gotten the benefit of pitching in one of the most pitcher friendly parks in one of the most pitcher friendly divisions in baseball their whole careers.

Just look at Gallardo/Greinke for example. So many people are fond of saying the Brewers have two aces. But they have a combined grand total of ONE season pitching like an ace, between the two of them! Cain and Lincecum are bona-fide aces and Bumgarner a legit #2, with Lincecum a perennial Cy Young candidate.

And here you are trying to downgrade our pitchers so you don't show "bias."

Gallardo in his career has a 3.63 ERA, 3.51 FIP and 3.68 xFIP
Cain in his career has a 3.35 ERA, 3.69 FIP and 4.26 xFIP

Yet Gallardo doesn't have one season of pitching like an ace according to you and Cain is a bonafide ace. Seriously, STFU.

Jurrjens is looking like an ace.

Jurrjens career 3.40 ERA, 3.88 FIP, 4.22 xFIP.

I'm not going to go through all of them, but seriously, look at stats before posting this garbage.

I don't know how anyone can honestly be worried about the pitching, at all. It's at worst the third best rotation in the NL. And the back end bullpen is arguably the best. We have no injury concerns, Greinke starting the year healthy, and Greinke and Marcum both pitching for contracts.

I see Skeletor going with the same lineup. It isn't ideal, but it will work.

It is really nice to have Aramis on this team.

Hart just said he didn't like hitting behind behind Fielder. Weeks told McCalvy last week that the only spot he didn't want to hit was 5th. I'll have more time later to dig up the article.

ETA:

Weeks on his spot in lineup: ‘Anything but five’

Soft-spoken Brewers second baseman Rickie Weeks aired an uncharacteristic request Thursday about his spot in the batting order:

Anything but the five-hole.

“Anything other than five, I’m good,” Weeks said. “I feel like I’m not doing anything. You might have people [on base] in front of you, but once you drive them in, you feel like you’re stagnant. The game kind of slows down to me.

“I’m the type of person, you get on base and try to score runs. That’s my whole thing. … Being active down there, it’s kind of hard to do that.”

Weeks has spent most of his career in the leadoff hole and will tie Gorman Thomas for 10th on the Brewers’ all-time runs scored list when he next touches home plate. Weeks enters the season only 73 runs shy of sixth place on that list.

He said his ankle is about 95 percent recovered from the nasty sprain suffered last July.

So Rickie doesn't like the five hole because he doesn't trust the options at six/seven to drive him in.
Brandon Jennings misses a layup.

2B Rickie Weeks
CF Nyjer Morgan

3B Aramis Ramirez
RF Corey Hart
1B Mat Gamel
C Jonathan Lucroy
SS Alex Gonzalez

OF Carlos Gomez
OF Nori Aoki
C George Kottaras
INF Taylor Green
INF Cesar Izturis

SP Yovani Gallardo
SP Zack Greinke
SP Randy Wolf
SP Shaun Marcum
SP Chris Narveson

LR Marco Estrada
LOOGY Braddock or Parra
MR Brandon Kintzler
MR Kameron Loe
MR Jose Veras
SU Francisco Rodriguez
CL John Axford

Time for me to p*ss off TRWI and the rest with my yearly lineup post : )

I think the above is a good Plan A. I like the R / L / R at 3 - 5. Worried about Gamel pulling a Pighee so I'll make a plan B and C.

Plan B - If Gamel sucks (I hope he is a beast) and Aoki is really good: (3 - 6 would be top 3 in NL and amazing speed 1 - 4)

Aoki RF - speed, OBP
Morgan CF - speed, OBP, good bunting
Weeks 2B - pre injury 2011 Weeks is amazing, big power & still a factor on the bases
Braun LF - MVP power hitter
Ramirez 3B - Lefty power, RBI stud
Hart 1B - amazing speed and height at first base
Lucroy C - good hitting catcher
Gonzales SS - Weakest link on offense

Plan C - If Gamel sucks but Green is good (3 - 6 still should be top 6 in NL)

Weeks 2B - pre injury 2011 Weeks is amazing anywhere 1 - 3
Morgan CF - speed, OBP, good bunting
Braun LF - MVP power hitter
Ramirez 3B - Lefty power, RBI stud
Hart 1B or RF - amazing speed and height at first base
Green 1B or RF
Lucroy C - good hitting catcher
Gonzales SS - Weakest link on offense

Do we have anyone that can take AB's away from our SS if he sucks? WTF is Cesar?

I'm ok with Rickie in the top 3 (and not at 5) because he can use his speed more as long as he never does that to his ankle again.. gross

I would love to go:

Morgan/Aoki
Weeks
Hart
Braun
Ramirez
Gamel
Lucroy
Gonzalez

I think Braun prefers to and will stay in the 3 hole though. Also their stupid logic of needing Morgan 2nd for bunting options. I'd rather have my 2 hitter drive in my leadoff man than bunt him over. I also like having my best hitters 2, 4 and 5.

Oops, he's a righty. I don't know the new guys very well yet. Righties are going to tough for us. All of our potential lefty power is young and untested (Gamel and Green).

Pre-injury 2011 Weeks would be perfect as a 3 hitter. Of course Braun would like to be in the 3 hole, but without Prince protecting him there isn't really a point so he should be promoted to cleanup hitter by default to give him the most opportunities with RISP with Weeks being promoted to the 3 hitter by default as well (because he's better than the other options).

I'd love to have Morgan or Aoki take over the leadoff spot everyday, too. But if they aren't allowed to play everyday Weeks will probably end up there hitting 30 solo homers. Gomez should never play unless someone is hurt.

I'm pretty sure there are numbers that show the most ABs with RISP go to 4th, 2nd and 5th. That's why I'd love Weeks 2nd and don't like Morgan 2nd.
