That's way more believable than fairy tales about the players telling the coach what to do.
I agree that it probably came from management. They needed to make a decision about Lin's contract, so they likely told MDA to evaluate him more.

Agreed, I think it is a pretty clear inference to be drawn considering D'Antoni had to go back against his statement almost immediately. Management gets the credit for Lin, not Mike.
I don't think a few minutes of garbage time in blowouts count as giving Lin playing time.
He only played meaningful minutes in 2 out 9 games since being recalled before blowing up in the Nets game.
Its just one of D'Antoni's faults. He's stubborn and picky about who he plays.
"..he was on the ground crying. I don't know what was going on, two actresses over there, that's what they are. I don't like them, and they know it." Q on Pierce and KG
He just waits on guys until they prove something and are confident. When you put young guys out there and they aren't ready they can embarass themselves. If you keep putting them in that situation it can stunt their development.
What if he puts Lin back out there too early and something like that happens? In most cases, the risk of putting a guy in before he is ready is more than the opportunity lost by not doing so.
At the end of the day, Lin proved he needed minutes over the course of a few games and then dominated when given a real opportunity. This is a success for Lin, D'Antoni, the Knicks, management, Carmelo Anthony, Steve Novak, Capn'O, everyone... except maybe Miami

I agree with your point about young players in general, but I really think your reaching in our situation. If D'Antoni wanted to boost Lins confidence, why say you have no plans for him?
D'Antoni's love of smart players really doesn't explain why he stuck with TD and Walker so long either. Talk about embarrassing yourself. You don't have to look much further then there play.
I'll just agree to disagree on it all since its pretty pointless. We are headed in the right direction and playing well. I'll give D'Antoni credit for that. When we are underachieving, playing poorly and I feel the coach isn't making the correct adjustments I'll blame him too.

Sure. D'Antoni is here for the time being. If we are healthy and lay an egg in the playoffs serious questions need to be asked. This team _should_ play over .600 the rest of the way and get to the second round this season. The horses are here.

Okay...the last one was in complete satire but he really is annoying. How can he even reach with a statement like that?
Its crazy how much Criticism Melo has gotten anytime we use him in Isolations..Kobe, Durant, Lebron, Wade, Rose, you name any star player and they run Iso's for thier star players,, now everytime we run one with Melo you hear its too many isolations etc..It ever crossed anyone's Mind that Mike D's offense may just be flawed being that it so highly depending on the PG's play.
