D'Antoni and this new team.

Postby Manhattan Project on Sun Mar 04, 2012 2:45 pm

Maybe it's his face, some fans really hate it.
Maybe it's the way he handles the media, some fans really hate it.
Maybe it's the way he's talked over the years, some fans really hate it.
Maybe it's the ineptitude of his offense without a pg.

Say what you want about him, he's probably a stubborn MF'er. However now that he finally got something that he can use, all of a sudden we don't look so bad. Look at Giant fans, how many times have you heard the phrase Fire Coughlin? Only in New York do you hear that after winning a Superbowl... twice. Now please don't think I'm saying that D'Antoni is a championship winning coach, just comparing coaching in New York.

Some might argue that it's been the additions of Chandler and Lin that's really changed the culture of this team. However you can see throughout this entire team that there is a bond between the players. From Jeffries constantly helping the young guys learn the NBA ropes to Melo and Amar'e at A list events. We have all seen the videos and pictures of the Knicks actually being close off the court. I'm not talking eat hot dogs in sync like LeBron and Wade, but rather crashing on couches, watching the Giants or helping Jeffries find the best crack. Somewhere in all of this there has to be a hand of the coach.

You can argue
- Fields shouldn't be starting. But why mess with the rotation that's been so successful? Since Lin he has been playing a hell of a lot better. Until the wheel falls off, I don't think you change this.
- Jorts should be in the rotation. Yeah probably, but again why mess with that bench? He should get minutes over Novak or Jeffries? He's a rookie, he knows his job. There will be time for him next year.

D'Antoni is finally doing a good job managing this roster and the rotation. We really do have a lot of guys that deserve minutes and he is placing these guys to be real effective. Sure we can criticize some of his timeouts or lack of. We can argue that he was slow in giving Lin and Novak more minutes earlier. However the point is that we finally reached this point, that's what counts. Our guys are growing more familiar with each other as the days go bye. We have seen glimpses of how good we can be, as well as how bad we can be.

All I'm really trying to say is that he is finally doing a good job with this team.
Blue and orange everything, clearly what I'm repping
And the pressure that come with it like I'm wearing number seven

Build a team, Nets:
1- LeBron James. 60- 61- 120- 121- 180- 181- 240- 241- 300- 301- 360- 361-

Good luck convincing people of the obvious.

All they'll say in response is he didn't call that timeout with 9 mins left in the second or that he left Shumpert in for 30 secs too long.

Yea, we're finally beating the Clevelands of the league consistently but the Knicks need to play more real teams before I can solidify any conclusions about him with this current group of players. For example, against Miami (even when we were close in that game I'd argue it was moreso Miami not turning it up until later in the game as opposed to us really playing well)...against the Celtics his coached team looks wayward and directionless on the court in key stretches of the game, as always, hence all of the turnovers. You're simply not going to be a consistent threat when you allow such undisciplined play.

D'Antoni is no Tom Coughlin.

Tom Coughlin motivates his team, DA doesn't.

The players on the Knicks seems to disagree with you, especially Jeffries

And how motivational was Coughlin in the first half of the season?

Doesn't matter Giants won it all. Knicks will NEVER win a championship with this soft ass stubborn coach.

Who the hell is comparing D'Antoni and Coughlin? All I said is that NY fans usually hate their coaches unless they win the championship. In the case of Coughlin the fans hated him after the first SB and hated him up until the parade. All I said is that both are coaches in NY and have to deal with the fans that come along with that.

MDA has no guts to take out Amare when he clearly struggles on both ends of the floor. Why have Amare playing in OT when has provided absolutely nothing? MDA doesn't do the little things that makes coaches great.

And too add on this on Coughlin and MDA (sorry project), Coughlin knows what it takes to win a championship, MDA doesn't even know what it takes to win a regular season game.

One of the biggest knocks on Tom Coughlin is he is NOT a good motivator.. You know what motivates the Giants? Their veteran players always talking ch*t and the NY media..

I'm going to politely exit this thread & keep what I have to say to myself.

I wish with all my heart to be true. But having the deepest team in the league and not being able to instruct smart and fluid plays and integrate all the players in the game, i dont think he's doing fine. I see our game too predictable and in a nights when our shooters arent hot (wich happens often this year) we are in a very big trouble. We got lucky to have 3 D's monsters on the team, so they dot let this team suffer blowout losses.
