I didn't mean all my money when I said "alot of money" I was thinking 4 digits. I'm not a degen that will gamble away my house. I'm a poker player that understands that all forms of gambling is favorable for the house. I just like to sports bet once in a while to make the season more exciting. I made this thread to find out what my fellow Jays fans think about their chances.

Wait, 4 digits?

Unless that includes the ones after the decimal, I would say a bunch of people owe flatjacket1 an apology.

Not me. But I can't wait to see how H-Towne responds.

Poker, despite favouring the house, will also favour players savvy enough to consistently make bets with a positive expectation. Sports betting is often the same way. In this case, I don't know what exactly the odds are that you're taking up but I've not personally found any odds on the Jays this year that have tempted me in the least for any action whatsoever. I'm not sold enough on this season to consider such a bet to be favourable. I hope I'm wrong though. Meaningful games in September (the myth... the legend...) would be a pleasant change from the norm.

ab5olution, I don't know how to respond without violence. Or without moralising. Both of which are unattractive, so I'll just let you be... a... No... I'm going to exercise forbearance.

flatjacket, I'm not going to apologise for high-lighting your vulgarity (cf. telling board members how much 'a lot of money' should not be, with instructions to change careers if their checkbooks are not balanced to your scale).

Unseemly!

Although, you do get points for being able to intuit the exact amount. You must have a copy of How The Other Half Lives somewhere in your collection, for I have not seen such an accurate reading of a proletarian performance in quite some time. You have a gift.

What else can I say? I thought and believed my assumptions were true--incandescently true. Until now, I never thought possible that a male, of age, would log on to a message-board forum--one he joined two months previous--and sincerely start a thread on the question of whether he should bet a thousand dollars (or more) on a 162-game Toronto Blue Jays season. Just would not think it possible.

Label me a reactionary, but I rather wish we still had some form of slum prudery.

On the breakfast menu this morning: crow... and humble pie. (Takes a few days to digest. Give it time.)

Fair enough. I'm not digging for an apology, my intention on this thread were pure, to stop a man from investing 4 figures in a sports bet. I hope you can understand that.

Yeah, didn't see that coming. OP, you need to consider a different hobby, like working your way to stop gambling. And you contradicted yourself by saying your a poker player "knowing the house takes the majority of money"?

Poker is one of the only games in gambling where the house makes the least amount of money.

You guys took this too far. I have disposable income and rarely gamble. I just wanted a simple response. Lock this thread.

What a ridiculous thread. The OP is obviously not serious (I'd be willing to bet a lot of money that he doesn't have the balls to put over a thousand bucks on the jays) and the rest of the thread is full of childish bickering and judging. I need to visit the jays forum more often.

Just read the last page, but $1,000 is far from a lot for a serious sports bettor to put on a season long future.

How many "serious sports betters" would make this thread?
