New Orleans Rouge would sound cool (the whole Baton Rouge thing), but it sounds more like a brand of lipstick...

It could be the Rogues instead of Rouge, for a little bit of a word play.

Rogue is probably the most misspelled word on the internet. If a team is named the Rogue, get prepared to see a lot of dump posts with Rouge instead, and presumably vice versa.

If New Orleans releases the Hornets name I'd say there is a 70% chance Charlotte takes back the name. There was a poll recently in Charlotte and 80% of people said they would be more excited about the team if it took the Hornets name back.

I believe a clipper was an old old wooden ship used in the CIVIL WAR era.
