I think it really has to be. He made the team out of ST and, from what was reported at the time, was told that it was only a temporary demotion.

Of course, things will get interesting once Cecil comes back.

Glad to see Drabek doing well. Looks like his head is starting to line up with his physical stuff.

I still feel like the Jays probably could have swept this series if not for the bullpen. Hopefully they'll come around. Though I guess we should be very wary of 1 run leads going into the 8th either way.

Pitching has been good. If Morrow so far has looked the most disappointing of the rotation, I guess that's a good thing. He usually gets hot around July and August.

Morrow's such a disappointment- 2 starts, 14 innings & 4 runs & a 0.79 WHIP. That's just so terrible for us. If you would have said that was his line after his first 2 starts we'd be falling over ourselves.

Our top 4 have been simply outstanding so far. We look to be in good shape.

The great thing is I don't think Morrow has hit his stride yet too. I think he's kind of experimenting with some new stuff right now, and he's not getting burned too much at all (...yet).

give morrow some time, hes changing this stuff this year, becoming a groundball pitcher instead of going for the strike out all the time (which leads to high pitch counts)

if it still doesn't work for him he can be a setup man.

One of the reasons I thought the Jays were a darkhorse team heading into the year is basically because of what we have seen so far this season. Every starter in the rotation other than Romero are question marks, but they are high upside question marks. Drabek prior to 2011 was the 29th ranked prospect in baseball. I don't envision him being an ace, but his stuff and upside is there to be a very good pitcher if they fix his command (so far, so good). Alvarez has high upside. Morrow, despite being a bit of a disappointment, has upside. If all three of those pitchers can have quality seasons, and Romero pitches like he he has the past two years, there is no reason why the Jays can't be competitive.

The main thing holding the Jays back is Adam Lind/first base.

^^ yup we need a better, consistent bat protecting bautista. if they jays arent gonna spend money, they need to make a trade. ee is doing well, but he cannot be a cleanup hitter and expect the jays to go the playoffs.

If you platoon Lind like Farrell did today, that weakness kind of goes away. Not entirely, because you'd still like to have a full-time 1B that does better than Lind/Francisco, but it really helps.

I agree. We can have a nice lineup with the current platoon.

It's also worth noting Jeff Mathis has taken 1 walk in 6 AB's. JPA, 1 walk in 28 AB's. He also has more hits than JPA and more total bases. Who is supposed to be the better offensive catcher?

Yea, if the team is trying to maximize its effectiveness it should have a Thames/Davis & Lind/Francisco (with EE shifting to 1st) platoon at each position for now.

Lind has been so god awful against lefties for his career it should be a no brainer with him.

Remember last year when everybody was like LIND CAN HIT LEFTIES NOW because he hit .300 against lefties through like the first month or two? I was consistently a skeptic. Lind should never play without a platoon.
