We didn't start this thread. A Knicks fan did.

maybe i am just emotionally burnt out from all this dwight drama but i dont want dwight if deron is not here.

is anybody else very worried about deron leaving and dwight coming in?
dont get me wrong, i would love to see him here but at this point nobody is a lock to stick around next year. and if we do end up sending away whatever assets we have left for him...what's the point?

is a dwight only team really a better option then just picking up the pieces from this year?

If Deron leaves, there's no reason for Dwight to come. End of story.

IDK about that...

Wait, Dwight for a bunch of filler, average starters and bench scrubs would make us worse?

Like how worse? 24 wins in 82 games worse?

I want Dwight to come regardless of Deron, if Deron leaves, and we got Dwight, we'll be in better shape, because Dwight's a better player.

But would Dwight want to come if Deron's not here? I'm not saying he's like Chris Bosh and Deron's like Wade/LeBron, where Bosh would only sign wherever they did, but I do think what makes Brooklyn so attractive for Dwight is the marketing opportunities and the opportunity to play with Deron. If Deron's not here, I don't think we'd be that attractive of a destination, at least from a basketball perspective.

Keep in mind he was the guy that nailed the Lebron to Miami scoop a day and a half before the Decision and about a full day before the rumor went mainstream with the rest of the sports media.

SAS can be an annoying tool, that doesn't mean his credibility should constantly be questioned or scrutinized to a much higher degree then other increasingly less legit sports media.

Do you think Orlando would have approved the trade after seeing an additional crack in Lopez's ankle?

Well, if we make a top 3 jump I wouldn't say we have nothing.

Say we jump to #1 overall?

Magic were never enamored with Brook Lopez anyway.

So the main package becomes the People's Eyebrow(super valuable, plus just an out and out franchise level prospect), MarShon Brooks, the Rockets pick and a future pick.

That's a top notch package to say the least.

Of course that's an enormous what if and will take a huge and very specific stroke of luck, but it's not some insane possibility, chances are we wind up the 5th worst record.

I think that what your saying could be a possibility. getting that #1 pick it would probably make us a step above anyone else that they would think about trading him too.

The #1 overall pick would be just about the most valuable chip in the league period for any trade of any player out of anything/anyone remotely reasonable to be available.

As in the #1 isn't more valuable then Lebron, or maybe even say Kyrie Irving, but neither of those two would be available in any trade period more then likely.

How does a trade like that work logistically? Signed draft picks cannot be traded for some time period.

It can be done as a draft night trade.

Other then that, not sure if rookies can literally be S&T'd.

If we're figuring it doesn't happen on draft night and the Nets just go forward without Howard but keep the offer on the table, then it is 60 days from the time the rookie signs IIRC.

They don't have the space to bring in Dwight on draft night though right? Isn't their cap number then the same as now?

Btw, appreciate the response.

It can be agreed to in principle and then officially executed the first day that the 2012-13 salary cap figures become official. Trades like that happen a lot on draft night.

I remember Larry Coon saying that technically a trade like that isn't official until it's official, but no team has ever backed out and would be a franchise killer if it happened unless it was for a severe medical reason that was not declared/tried to be covered up when the trade was agreed upon.

No prob BTW.

What do you think the odds would be without a top three pick?

Not sure. Probably pretty low. It would really depend a lot on if LAL is looking to ship Bynum. Then again, would Orlando want to risk losing Bynum for nothing as well?

I don't see all these other suitors coming out of the woodwork though. At least not with really good trade packages, just too much risk that he walks depending on who keeps open 2013 cap, to go with his back surgery and that he'll be disgruntled and ornery in most of these rental situations so you don't even get his full beast focus for the year.
