Yes I hate this (Please Use More Appropriate Word) women bashing. Its totally off topic, immature, and unnecessary. That being said I never saw a good Knicks team in action until now since I am a college student and didn't watch the NBA until I become a teen.

Its odd because I was only a kid, still a few years away from being a teenager back in 1999. I didn't really follow pro sports but I was a huge college football fan, but thats expected growing up in the South.

Even at an early age I would go into chat rooms and talk to people much older than me. One of them was a woman with kids my age who lived in NYC and was a huge Knicks fan. I can remember her talking about the '99 playoff run as it happened, and I even caught the end of the Pacers series on TV. I can still remember standing in my kitchen, watching the Knicks win that series, the memory is only a few seconds long but it's become a very strong memory from my childhood.

From that point I grew to watch and follow the Knicks as I got older. Sprewell played at Alabama, and being a huge Alabama fan, that furthered my love for them. Even before I religiously followed them, I had a Sprewell jersey. I loved that thing. Sadly that blip of a memory from 99 is the best time I've spent as a Knick fan so far. I truly started following day in and day out the year we traded for Marbury. Ha.

I remember that game like it was yesterday. Was in L.A. at the time and watching the game much earlier, due to the time difference. By the end of the game I was screaming like I had just won the lottery. All of my neighbors (Laker fans and not KNICK fans) had no idea why I was screaming and thought I was crazy. LOL but I didn't care.

No it was easy rooting for spree after he choked out PJ, was suspended had his contract voided, reinstated and played for the knicks.... Spree did a bad thing, but when I saw his teamates stand behind him during the press confrence after the incident, where he publicly apologized to PJ, I was ready to move on. I didn't like his act at all, but it was a big thing to see some of his teamates stand behind him....

Nothing will ever compare to 1994 for me. I was at Game 7 against the Pacers and the crowd was in an absolute frenzy and Patrick Ewing stepped up when it mattered most. The flagrant foul call on Reggie Miller was just icing on the cake.




Time to make new memories!!!

You know I hate that Ewing gets such a bad rap for missing one layup. No one remembers in that game 7 that if not for him we never come back from the hole we dug up for ourselves.

29/14/5/4. That is what he had in that game.

He never had a 2nd star. He had Starks as much as I love him was a damn role player. He had Charles Smith in his starting lineup. Yet he had a run there were he took us to the 2nd round/ECF/Finals/2nd round.

He never gets any respect for a all time great.

People only remember a missed layup. I remember that game 7. I remember game 5 vs the heat in 99 where he was basically crawling out there and still making rotations/blocking shots/etc.

I remember always knowing win or lose Patrick Ewing was coming out hard and putting up big numbers in game deciding games. I remember a warrior who never gave up and busted his butt out there despite numerous injuries. Damn it now I am getting pissed.

Can't wait for the playoffs to begin. LEGOOOOO!!!!

That was a magical run, it hurt to lose to the Spurs. I knew right then and there, Patrick Ewing (who I'll always love) would retire without a ring. Which is a shame, because I rank Ewing as one of the 5 greatest Centers that's ever lived to play the game. Losing to the Spurs hurt, but nothing hurt more than losing to Hakeem and the Rockets back in 1994. We had those guys beat. Up 3-2. 1 victory away from our first championship since 1972. And we failed to bring the championship home. That was my first and last time I've ever cried over a sports team. Losing that game 7 took alot out of me as a kid. Hopefully I'll witness a Knicks championship before I leave this earth. I also say the same about my Jets.

I really enjoyed the Knicks of the late 90's with Camby, Houston, Sprewell, LJ, Childs, Ward etc, etc (remember Dudley aha) but yeah, growing up during my childhood days, I'm not sure nothing can compare to Jackson/Davis/Harper, Starks, Charles Smith, Oakley, Mason, Ewing and Herb of the early to mid 90's.

With all that said, I haven't loved a Knicks team in the same types of ways as our current Knicks roster in quite some time. We have something special here in 2011-2012.

Oh man!!!! I was in high school at the time senior year that was such a magical run to the finals! If you think about it that year in the east other than the Knicks our only real threat was the Pacers so it was only fitting that we met for the eastern crown. The 2nd round was a joke...Too bad we had to go against the Spurs and a very young and hungry Tim Duncan. A healthy Ewing and we would've had a 7 game series. Then to prove we weren't a fluke we made a repeat run to the ECF in 2000 and Reggie finally beat the knicks to get his ass handed to him in the finals vs the Lakers.

Just slightly OT - did anyone see the montage that MSG ran just before the game last night with playoff highlights of games between our three possible rivals - Heat, Bulls and Pacers?

It was really well done and brought back so many memories of those wars back in the 90s. I'd love to see that on YouTube.
