Not trying to troll, I'm just curious what the Wolves fans would think.

Drummond looks like a bust waiting to happen. It would have to be Beal/MKG for me.

I'd do it, but I also think Williams is a bust waiting to happen. :dontknow:

The center and Power forward position are set. Same as PG. The positions that are worth drafting are SG, and SF. I still don't understand the point in drafting anyone but jeremy lamb/Terrence Ross if I was the wolves at this point. There problem is heavily on 1) The 2 PG back court 2)They have the worst starting SF. Drafting power forward and center every year will not fix the small forward/shooting guard problem. That is the position they should draft (if they don't trade away the pick). The derrick Williams draft pick was poor. They should have traded down that year.

I can't get excited about Lamb or Ross. I don't think either player would make much of an impact.

I agree, and I'm guessing Adelman does as well.

Anyone think we should sell high on Pek?

Where are we going to get the money to re-sign him if we have a "very aggressive" off-season?
Wolves fan first. Clippers fan distant second.

On the "Get a shooting guard" bandwagon

It wouldn't hurt.

For the record, I made a similar post during the season, which everyone hated the idea then.

I think Williams can be a decent player in this league, but as far as number two picks go, he won't live up to the expectations IMO. He's not a guy that will turn a franchise around.

Drummond could very well be the DeAndre Jordan of this years draft. Drummond could be a decent starting role player that can put up 10/10 or he could totally flop like Hasheem Thabeet.

I think with Williams, he could turn out to be an Antwan Jamison (solid starter, maybe one ASG, not 2nd pick worthy).

Moral of the story, I'd trade him for a high lottery pick but let us decide who to take.

Comment From Matt
What are your thoughts on the Wolves trading for Iggy. Makes a ton I know, but can play the SG and SF spots and his defense is top notch.
12:53
Jerry Zgoda: Somebody told me they could have had Iggy for Martell basically on draft day last year but refused to accept Iggy's $45M left on his contract. Don't sure I completely believe that, but I know Kahn once believed he's way overpaid. That might change now that there's only 2 years left. He certainly fits some of their needs

and

Jon Krawczynski ‏ @APkrawczynski
@timallenonline @mdotbrown I know that to be true. Had Webster for Iggy deal at deadline last year

If this is true, then my idea of Webster, Miller, Johnson and the Utah pick for Iggy might actually be overpaying, and I would be a little surprised if we didn't get Iggy this summer.

I wondered when this would make its way over here. Philly even has a thread about it already, though they seem convinced it was Iguodala for Webster/#2.

Before all the KAHN! jokes get started, this was pre-lockout, so its understandable that he did not want to add a salary like that at that time. I wonder if they'll start talks again.

I'm sure multiple trade scenarios were being discussed.

Pieces were probably Flynn/Johnson/Webster/Darko/Mem pick. Then Webster + 2nd pick was one brought up.

I understand as well why he wouldn't want to take in the contract at the time but now with a need for a vet and having a good idea what we have with Rubio, I think talks could start up again. He might even be had for cheaper (ie: Al Jefferson type deal).

I think Drummond's ceiling is considerably higher than that. I imagine there's a good reason Drummond is in the mix for the #2 pick in a stacked draft and DeAndre Jordan went in the 2nd round.

Assuming they still prefer cap relief over players.

A little surprised? I wouldn't get your hopes up. They still have to want to trade him and they still have to want to trade him to us for what we're willing to offer vs. 28 other teams.

If you recall back then, a significant contingent of Wolves posters did not think Iggy was worth his contract back then, and thus would not have traded expiring contracts for him. I imagine there are still some that feel the same way.

well i suggested a trade of DW for him only a couple of pages ago and don't think thats over paying however i'm probably one of the lower ones of us on DW and never wanted to draft him in the first place.

if indiana some how manages to lose what would be the worst series in nba history i think we should see if granger is available. he's paid slightly less than iggy, is signed through the same year, is only 7-8 months older and brings some of the same qualities iggy would bring minus ball handling and creating for others but is a more reliable scorer.

In 2008, Jordan was locked to be in the top 5 (was mocked there all season long) and fell dramatically in the draft.

Jordan did have a pretty high ceiling, but I'd give Drummond the higher ceiling than '08 Jordan considering Drummond has managed to stay in the top 2 all season long and has drawn more comparisons to Dwight Howard. He's still incredibly raw and has question marks. Break or bust.

I don't think we can afford the gamble anyways and should look to move Williams for a proven talent. I don't think Kahn and co. would even move Williams to get Beal, but don't quote me on that.

I can't imagine Williams value to be completely shot. Has he devalued a bit? Yes. Would teams be willing to give him a shot and give up a nice piece to get him? I would like to think so.
