Retired_Doc wrote:Actually Smokey it's not much of a stretch at all. NO ONE here knows what was said in that locker room. NO ONE! If Woodson tore into Amare about his atrocious defense/lack of rebounding, or if another coach referred to it, or if a teammate called Amare out on it, sure, it's quite possible an emotional basket case such as Amare would punch the glass and use that as a convenient excuse to avoid becoming a bench player.
A player emotionally bankrupt enough to punch an inanimate object out of anger is equally capable of "evading responsibility."
How do we know someone didn't burst into the lockeroom with a gun and say "Amare, if you don't break this glass with your hand, I'll kill your whole family!"

Everyone has, but here's the difference: we aren't being paid $20 million to do something where our health is a necessity. By punching a wall or whatever it is you or I or anyone has punched before, we didn't let down millions of fans, your teammates, management, etc. He has a responsibility to the team and he blew that because he lost his cool. It's unacceptable.

And for what it's worth, Amare didn't punch the glass in the lockerroom. He punched it as soon as the game was done, on the way to the lockerroom. So no time for Woodson to threaten to bench him.
The gunman still could have gotten to him though.

Is it smart? No, but even the best of us get out of it sometiems. I am mad that he has greatly hurt our chances of beating the Heat by losing our second best player but o well, we werent beating them anyway.
He is a grown ass man and self-proclaimed "great leader". He is an idiot and should do the team and fans a favor by not returning to the team until he gets his head, health and personal life back in order.

People get upset. They don't usually punch a glass in their workplace when they are upset. When they do, they get fired.
Obviously not a concept that Amare has to worry about. Hence the punch.

Your crazy if you think that just because he has more responsibility and makes more money than us, that he doesn't get to feel. He wasn't thinking "I wanna let down my fans, hurt my career, let my team down, etc. He wasn't thinking anything. He was feeling helpless, lost, and upset about something bad that was happening to him, that he felt he couldn't stop.
Remember Melo and STAT believe they are as good as Wade and LeBron. Right now they are getting a harsh reality check, finding out they're not.
I can understand why he did it.
Actually he gave up the right to be a reckless child when he put his name on that $100 million contract. Sorry, but you
have to think when others invest that much money in you.

Dude, you're going too far. Seriously it's enough now. I'm disgusted by how piss poor Stat has been this whole year. I'm disgusted by his contract. I'm disgusted by his stupidity last night. However, to accuse a guy of injuring himself bad enough to where he needed stitches to avoid being benched or as a response to criticism is beyond the pale and quite honestly implausible. It's especially implausible when said player has a bulging disk in his back that very easily could "bother" him again if he wanted to bitch out of playing. I don't want you to take this as personal attack so much as a commentary and a sentiment that may people here share: The bulk of your posts are nothing more that conspiracy theories involving players who draw your ire for reasons none of us can understand. I don't know what joy you get out of it and I really don't care. I just think that you should know that it's not productive, it's barely entertaining anymore and it really doesn't offer anything valid to any of the discussions here. Once again, I'm not calling you any names, I'm not suggesting that you do or not do anything, I'm just telling you how I believe your posts are perceived by a lot of people on this board.
Has anyone ever seen Paul Pierce and Plenette Pierson together? I rest my case.

You are wiser than you think! Yes, Stat DOES owe me money. And you know what? He owes you money too. In fact, he owes his teammates, Dolan and each and every fan TWENTY MILLION DOLLARS!
Good luck in collecting from him!

NO more injuries, please! I have a weak heart as it is!

Well, they
were in Miami. That city's lousy with guys carrying guns. I think you're onto something here.

Seriously. I want to see a full list of posters that punched something in their workplaces and what happened afterwards.
Personally, I know that I would be fired for something like that.

Nobody on the Knicks owes me a thing, Doc. I'm not so personally wound up in this team that I take professional failure as a personal affront. Your mileage, evidently, varies.
