Also, I really doubt NJ can absorb $20m. They're gonna want to re-sign Deron, Wallace, Hump, and Brook. Our only hope is that one of those guys doesn't want to stay with the Nets.
at this point, after watching how bad our pg play is and how hard it is for our team to create shots, id trade amare and lin for deron. then, just sign a bruising power forward who can rebound and play a little d and let melo and deron go to work.

of course he isn't. im not predicting the future. i'm just saying that it could be a good basketball move. think of what billups did to denver. they unleashed a declining AI for Billups and immediately became a really good team in the west. it's not going to happen but it doesn't mean it isn't the right way to build. do you really trust the knicks way of building? imagine if they didn't get the number 1 pick during the ewing years. they would have been like this since the 70s.

We can play that game forever with every team.
The team as it stands right now, when healthy, is very good. We don't need Deron. Lin is fine at the 1. We need Amare to focus up and come into next season without all the baggage he carried this year.
I got it! Trade Amar'e for either a piano or hammer. Since Amar'e made his money dunking, you can see in this video who actually shows more force against a backboard basket: Amar'e, a piano, or a hammer. And since the Bobcats have issues, maybe Amar'e could go to the Bobcats for a hammer.
For the hammer reference go to the Bobcats forum on here.

During the season I was quietly hoping could trade him for Josh Smith. All we need is defense at PF. Amare runs down the court with his back turned not lookin at the ball. Breaks my heart every time.
I agree, you could analyze every team and what you put on paper is different than the actual game. however, what cant be debated is the knicks 3 major weaknesses: pg play, rebounding and turnovers. how do we fix it? will lin return the same? will he continue to progress? there's cases for both sides. me personally, if we get a chance at a young all star pg, while getting rid of two of our 3 main problems (pg play and turnovers), you gotta do it. even better, if we can do it while getting rid of stat then we fix the third as well. this is exactly the same situation denver was in before getting billups.
nonetheless, lin wont be traded and that could very well be the right move. i just hope the kids 20 games are sustainable. because if he f*ks up, his trade value will never be this high.
Trade 1) Brakens and Iggy for Amre and future 1 Pick why for 76ers- Brand is a free agent, Amre will be the Star they lack and moving Evan turner to his original position at the SF Lou Williams would start at the SG . why for the Knicks- Iggy goes to SF Melo to PF you will have Shump and Iggy with Chandler the defense gets better along with spacing
Trade 2) Amare for Emeka Okafor and Xavier Henry why for the hornets because again it gives them a star and make them worth coming out to see why for the Knicks you get better defensively more rebounding and block shots. They will also get Dept on the bench with Henry, they will lose Fields to free agency along with J.R Smith.
According to Stephen A. Smith they will not loose Lin because they own his rights as far as free agency so even if someone sign Lin to a contract the Knicks could Match any offer including going over the 5 mil exc. in which doesnt count against the Cap. so with the 5 mil cap space sign Goran Dragic. try to resign Novak and go to war with.
Dragic/Lin-PG Shump/ Filler free agent- SG Iggy/ Novak-SF Melo/ Harrellson-PF Chandler/ Jordan-C both teams are well rounded out and spacing shoud be no problem, DEFNSE, DEFENSE, DEFENSE!!

1) I dont think Amare is the STAR you think he is. 2) Matching another teams offer for Lin uses up the MLE, you cant use it to sign Dragic.

i don't think his trade value is going to rise anymore than it is brother and feel those needs are important because remember defense wins games at least if you added Iggy or Okafor you get better defensively and rebounds i don't think either one of those trades are garbage compared to the way Stat has been playing.
