New First Baseman.... please AA

Lind has sucked and it goes back much further than this season. He has never been the player that tore it up a few years ago. Plus his number look even worse if he's our starting "first baseman".

I would rather get David Cooper up here or even give Travis Snider a chance at 1B......

Cooper is mt first choice cause he deserves it, he could be the new age Lyle Overbay (when Overbay was actually good ofcourse)........ However, Snider has proven he deserves a MLB shot NOW, when he is healthy again ofcourse. This could be do-or-die time for Snider as a Jay in the near future.

I agree completely. Anybody who classifies Cooper as a AAAA player, also classifies him as a replacement level player. What is a replacement level player? A player worth 0 WAR. Lind is on pace to finish the season with around -1 fWAR so if Cooper is a AAAA player, he is an improvememt. You are going to get a lot of hate for suggesting Cooper, but just remind them that if they call him a AAAA player, he MUST BE REPLACEMENT LEVEL, as the replacement level is classified as a "AAAA" player.

His career in the minors is a very respectable .300/.375/.464 slash line and an OPS of .838. Sure he doesn't have much power but it's not like Lind does anymore either, and it's worth noting Cooper had more extra base hits than singles, so he has SOME power.

I would consider moving Thames there as well, not Snider. The is no point having a plus defender in Snider learning to play a less demanding defensive position while our worst defender on the team keeps his spot in LF. I agree that having both Thames and Snider at LF and 1B is a good idea but the other way around. Same lineup offensively with both of them still in it, and a better look defensively for the other half of the inning.

I am also getting sick of JPA. Cost us several runs defensively, he's on pace to finish with the same fWAR as Lind. I think we need to give D'Arnaud a look, who batted around .360 or something over the last 11 games in AAA (and is much better defensively).

Because he makes 10M, bats LH, and had a strong 09 season blah, blah, blah nonsense.

He makes $5M this season, $5M next season, and has an option for 2014. It's not peanuts, but also not enough to prevent him from being benched. Basically the same amount Teahen was making last season. If he can have any semblance of success he'd have decent trade value because teams love veterans with short contracts and options. The main problem is that he stinks.

Exactly. That was the logical move out of Spring Training. But I guess Lind is hard to move with 2/10 guaranteed left on his deal so AA feels he has no choice but to play him and hope he increases his value. Unfortunately, Lind makes Overbay look like Carlos Delgado, so the team is punishing itself to justify a contract rather than put the best talent on the field.

Why make Snider 1B over Thames? Snider is so much better defensively in LF, Thames is still negative in production due to his horrendous defense.

I have a hard time thinking that there's nobody in the NL who would take Adam Lind from us. I think he'd do well there. It's time to move on.

i guess but we can get a head start on Snider playing first on this b/c when Gose comes up one of he or Rasmus will have to move to left, unless we move Joey to first and Rasmus to RF but i believe Joey is a better fielder than Snider
