If Knicks get sweep again this year get rid of Melo's contract for a "star" who doesn't mind NOT being the "MAN" or the first option; someone who puts the "TEAM" over himself. Woodson may have his job temporary saved when he got Melo to play hard by making him the "number one" option.. but the irony will be him losing his job over Melo-ball in the end.

Fact is that we are doomed with the stars we have. Glen needs to build this team traditionally through the draft and through player development for the first time in... forever. Only then will we solve any of our real problems.
And yes, this will take another 5-10 years.

This team has all the "pieces" to be a contender. the key is getting a coach that can best utilize our "talent(s)". And of course, players' willingness to sacrifice for the better of the TEAM.

Amare isn't a piece for a contending team. He'd rather punch a fire extinguisher than play defense.
Melo / Tyson / Lin / Shump are all great pieces, along with Novak and JR. Get some more shooters, a more defensive minded PF with a jump shot, and you have a contending team.

Hello people i am a Magic fan and i come in piece! Plz dont think that my trade proposal i am gonna ask you about represents the total magic fan base opinion i was chastised when i asked this before on magic board but would u guys do a Dwight, Anderson Duhon, Jrich for Amare, Chandler and Shumpert/Lin either one is fine i would prefer Melo but i doubt you guys would want to give him up. Thoughts? Your input is greatly appreciated.

To trade Amar'e we're gonna have to take back some other bad contracts.
Some trades I thought of:
Tayshuan Prince and Villenueva (and a minimum contract guy or Daye) for Stoudemire.
or
Gooden, Udrih and Livingston for Amar'e
or
Nene and Blatche for Amar'e (Idk when Nene can be traded with another player though)
It's pretty sad that earlier I thought we could get Lee, Scola, Josh Smith or Bargnani for Amar'e but now we'd be lucky to get anything.

Thought to myself...IF Deron Williams goes to Dallas, Jason Kidd could to come to NYK. THAT guy could make STAT/Melo work.

What would you think of an Amare trade for Corey Maggette and Tyrus Thomas? I imagine the only potential way he is traded is for equally bad contracts, and to a team that might have nothing to lose.
But this would give the Knicks a good backup big man and a replacement for JR Smith (who likely goes elsewhere this summer) as a bench swingman.
I just can't see any other team trading for his contract, but the Bobcats might make some sense, especially if they put Amare with the right teammates/coach/system to let him run the pick and roll and be surrounded with shooters like early last season before the Melo trade.

I've been thinking that Stat and Jeremy Lin for Deron Wiliams would be a good deal. Brooklyn would get two very marketable stars, Jeremy would be able to stay in NY and the Knicks would get an upgrade at the point. Thoughts?
Madgrinch knows more about basketball than me......

The problem is if Amare gets traded to Charlotte he's gonna be pissed and if your Charlotte do you really want a pissed off Amare?

I doubt Dolan wants to give the new NY team the massive boost they'd get with Jeremy
Also, you can't really sign and trade someone with adding another player. There are some loopholes to get around it, but it'd have to be a little different.
Like Amar'e for Deron, Jeremy for TPE. And we'd still have our MLE.
From a pure basketball point, I do that in a second... but sadly there's more to it than basketball.

Stat for Josh Smith makes sense or Stat for Kevin Martin and Luis Scola.
