theoretically, in the playoffs, we could be running

rose / calderon / jl3
tyreke / rip
#5 / korver / butler
kg / taj / amir
noah / asik

? is this possible? salary numbers i am finding online dont seem right, and i am certainly no cap guru...

Jumpmanjay, are you building a team after watching what OKC is capable of?

That's a cool roster but where's the outside shooting gonna come from?

Barnes/Beal from the #5 pick and Korver. Rose can shoot 3s too. So can Rip.

Korver is not worth $5 million dollars going forward. I guess Gibson could be worth $6 million if you consider him the 6th man. Evans will get more than $8 million if he plays the way we would hope so bump him up to at least $10 million.

I used Korvers current, Ok 10 for Evans and maybe less for Taj ...say 4 . And could be Harrison Barnes or Hollis Thompson at the 3. But that rookie slot is set for 5 yrs.
Either way I see moves coming. Next year is kinda a wash, So why not re-work it for the future.

You're forgetting about John Salmons or the other bad-contract filler we would be taking back as well as Tyreke Evans and the #5. So that number is more like $68 million. Asik'll probably get more than $4 million, too.

The bulls would not have to Salmons or any othefrsalary back from the Kings. There would be no reason to even consider the trade otherwise.

I've been strongly against trading Deng so far this off-season, but the more I look at the financial situation of the team, the more I think we may not have much of a choice. We really have four contracts big enough to make much of an impact by moving; Rose, Noah, Boozer and Deng. Now I'm pretty sure that we all agree that Rose and Noah shouldn't be moved (unless it's in a rediculously one-sided deal in our favor of course), and no one is likely to give us much in return for Boozer other than also bad contracts, so that wont really help us. That leaves Deng as the only real viable trade asset that we have who cound help us by being moved. I love the guy as a player and would love to see him stay, but we are close to the tax limit and if we can get a high pick in return for him, we can use that to replace him at SF with a rookie who will be a lot cheaper, whilst being able to use the remaining savings created to add help elsewhere.

At this point, if we could do the Kings deal that was mentioned, I would have to accept. Adding Evans and the #5 pick (Barnes?) would give us the long-term solutions at both SG and SF for the forseeable future. Rose, Evans, Barnes, Noah, Gibson, Asik, Butler, Mirotic and whoever we pick at #29 would give us one hell of a young nucleus to build around.

So basically, I'm still not in favor of blowing the team up for multiple picks, but I am open to the idea of moving Deng if we can get a good deal, such as the Kings deal mentioned. Obviously that is assuming that we can't move Boozer for a worthwhile return -- if we can then of course we move Boozer instead of Deng.
Lets go Bulls, Blackhawks and 49ers!

The #5 pick, Korver, KG can shoot, Rip off the bench, Rose's shot will improve since it HAS to.

I'm amazed that a 33 page thread has been made based on the possibility of trading the Bull's second or third best player and a solid bench big for a guard who can't shoot the 3 a #5 draft pick.

Folks here are bright and basketball knowledgable, so I have to conclude that their eagerness to make such a terrible trade is based on their concern about the owner's profits. This would be OK if the owners were losing money or were leading the league in personel expenditures, but they are not. If the greedy b**t**ds dismantle the current team for monetary reasons the team doesn't deserve support.

It's called the acceptance stage. It took me a few weeks after April 28 to get there.

I was trying to project future salary in my post

Obviously Mirotic wont even play here next year and Taj, Tyreke and Asik need a contract extensions.

I didnt include Watson, Rip or Brewer at all.

Here's a new one for next year.

Derrick Rose $15.5
Joakim Noah $11.3
Tyreke Evans $5.2
Kyle Korver $5
Omar Asik $2.4
Taj Gibson $2.1
Jimmy Butler $1.02
John Salmons ? $8
Richard Hamilton $5
#5 pick $2.8
#29 pick $0.857

===== $59.2

===== This just shows that no way they can afford to keep Deng and Boozer. Does not even show Mirotic on roster and players they get from trading the other missing pieces (Deng,Brewer,CJ) which could include Pau Gasol's 19 Million ...lol....not. It can be reworked different ways, But if you keep Noah and Rose as core and then Deng & Boozer ==== $54 mil next season just for those 4 guys...
