Blow it UP

Postby Afam on Wed Jun 13, 2012 11:26 am

After Reading some ideas from fellow Celtics fans here on what we should do with our team,i kindly say im disappointed in thier proposals and ideas they have in revamping our Celtics team.Let be start by saying the Celtics will also be a contending team , ie a playoff team but not a title contender. If that's what some fans want, that's fine. but that's not what i want.We should always want to win the championship.Even the hawks make the playoffs and they are happy with that.We are Boston, the city of Championships. My idea of making the Celtics champions again starts from trading Paul Pierce, letting ray Allen walk and trading rondo.sign Deron William and Dwight Howard and surround them with good shooters like mike miller, Eric Gordon, etc. No to players like trus Thomas,Ilysolva, etc.People that want those types of players don't want us to trade Pierce. or Allen. It's time to move on and look forward to the next generation of Celtic players.Good times do come to an end.if we don't sign KG,i would go hard after McGee or Bynum would help us in winning a championship.

A line up of
PG,Deron williams,Dooling etc
Sg Green,or Austin rivers or Eric Gordon,Bradley.Jamal Crawford
Sf Not familiar with any good players forward coming out this year but i add Josh smith.
Pf,KG,McGee,Hibbert if Indiana cant match our offer for him.
Dwight,Zeller

If this works cap wise we have a good team.we can sign role players like danny green,Jr Smith for the minimum.even mike miller. The point im trying to make is it;s time to get a superstar here in boston and stop going for scrubs. Also time for the Big three to retire.Time to dream big.If i made any mistake or this doesn't work cap wise, somone please tell me.Im open to any suggestions or criticism.

I'd say this is written by a 12 year old but I think even 12 year olds understand how the cap works. Even supposing DWill, Howard, Hibbert and Eric Gordon all WANTED to sign here (which they do not), the Celtics could not possibly offer them all contracts.

Are you talking about Jeff or Danny Green at SG?

And yea that's way too far over the cap.
In the starting five you have:
Deron ($16m)/Garnett ($9m)/Dwight ($17m) and that's not even counting Green, Hibbert, Smith and Gordon :o (Rough figures of course)

No need to throw out personal insults. If you can read.i clearly stated that this probably wouldn't fit under the cap.so any suggestions on fitting it under the cap would help.Im not stupid.Im not a Stats guy.Even though i suck at math,i can still add up all the player salaries and stuff but i don't have time for that.

Well, I like seemingly every player you have listed, but I noped right out of this thread because how I understand your plan:

Step 1: Trade Piecre/Rondo
Step 2: Ignore Ray
Step 3: ????
Step 4: DOMINANCE!!!

I guess I'm confused how you got there, particularly with regard to how we not only acquire stars through trades (Dwight, Smith), but we seem to acquire a lotto pick for Rivers and Zeller.

It sort of feels like if Michael Scott from the Office were to post a Blow Up plan on the board, which is cool because I dig Michael Scott, but then of course the plan would come with the requisite Jim eye-roll.

Looking at your lineup, I have anticipated salaries in parenthesis (note, cap is 60 million):

PG,Deron williams (16) ,Dooling (2.5) etc
Sg Green (7 - also, not a sg),or Austin rivers or Eric Gordon (10) ,Bradley.Jamal Crawford (>5)
Sf Not familiar with any good players forward coming out this year but i add Josh smith (12).
Pf,KG (10) ,McGee (8-12) ,Hibbert(>10-12) if Indiana cant match our offer for him.
Dwight (18) ,Zeller

Note again, the cap is at 60. Your lineup of Deron/Green/Smith/KG/Dwight alone exceeds the cap when there are still 10 guys yet to be signed.

I would also note that if you want more feedback, you'll need to post how we get some of these guys and which ones are alternatives (e.g., do you mean KG is plan A1 and Mcgee/Hibbert are backup plans if we can't get KG or are you suggesting that McGee actually backs up KG?) Similarly, break down the Rondo/Pierce trades, and keep in mind that neither of our picks are within the range of Zeller and rivers.

Your right.i just did the math on top of my head.it well exceeds the cap.i was just throwing out names.my point was to move away from the big three and find good players to replace them

I certainly have that inclination, especially if kg retires. Any idea what you would look for in a Pierce or Rondo trade?

Myself it seems pretty tough to gauge Paul's value around the league. I don't know, regardless of team needs, would Pierce for Odom, Brandon Wright, and Ricky Beaubois be fair value (ETA - I guess for Boston, if KG retired Odom is a bit younger and he would be expiring. I like Wright and Ricky)?

I agree it would be tough to excute a pierce trade but they are three i would do.Pierce for a paul george and a first round pick from the pacer.rondo and pierce for dwight.or rondo, bass, and a pick to Sac for Tyreke,5th pick and flip that to orlando for Dwight.any trade involving pierce i would want at least a good player coming back or a good pick.

Then we could trade Stiemsma and a second for Lebron, then S&T Dooling to the thunder for Harden.
