We're not following the OKC model, obviously -- and not because of planning, but because of the fates.

If we keep the pick and keep picking up assets, we would appear to be hewing to the Chicago model.

But ... we also are poised, now, to follow the Boston model.

Does anyone see Orlando going for the #3, Nene, and Okafor in exchange for Dwight Howard? Voila! -- an entire frontline to retool. Throw in whatever else.

We keep Seraphin, Wall and Vesely. Ariza plays the 3. Pick up Courtney Lee or something in free agency.

I think this is better than anything Orlando gets, including from the Lakers.

I think our Roman numerals got screwed up somewhere. I don't think this is really 20...

I remember 17, 18 and 19. If there was a screw up, it was sometime before that.

No. It's not better than what the Lakers can give. Bynum > Okafor + #3.

You are fooling yourself if you think Okafor has much value. At best, he's worth slightly more than a random expiring contract.

Nate, I didn't say Okafor + 3.

I said Nene + Okafor + 3. And whatever else they might want, excepting Wall and Seraphin and Vesely.

Orlando gets Nene, Okafor and MKG to retool. They've got shooting. I don't think that's bad at all, if you're rejiggering.

I also think that Bynum is enough of an enigma (immature, selfish, interests off the court, etc.) that Orlando considers a package like this very, very seriously.

Sorry. Misread that. But even still, there's no way Orlando does it. If Orlando trades Howard, they are going to need to rebuild. You don't rebuild by acquiring quality, high priced veterans who keep you at a 40-win pace. You rebuild by acquiring youth and picks and tanking in the process.

At the very least, we should be giving them Seraphin. Something like Seraphin, Booker, the #3, our 2014 1st rounder and Okafor might be a good place to start. It leaves us with Wall, Vesely, Nene and Howard and no shooters.

Booker for Luke Babbitt and Portlands 40th pick.

Portlands draft night:

Lillard
Leonard/Melo/Zeller
Kim English
Booker via trade

Washingtons offense-infused draft night:

Beal
Tony Wroten (Mack upgrade)
Crowder
Babbitt via trade

(Crawford dumped for future considerations)

Dallas/Wizards:

Wizards trade:

Trevor Booker
Chris Singleton
Jordan Crawford

Wizards get:
Dominique Jones
2012 First Round Pick (#17)

Why for Dallas? Booker is better than anyone Dallas will get at #17, Singleton might hopefully grow into a decent role player behind Marion, and Crawford, well, hopefully he can become more efficient to be a contributor.

Why for Washington? Clears the frontcourt logjam, while not locking us into Beal at #3. Gives us a chance at Terrence Ross or Will Barton, or we can reach for a guy like Tony Wroten who hopefully will be influenced by our veteran lineup.

Wizards possible lineups:

Okafor (24) / Seraphin (12) / Nene (12)
Nene (16) / Vesley (18) / Seraphin (10) / Okafor (4)
MKG (32) / Ariza (12) / Ross (4)
Ross (26) / Ariza ( 8)
Wall (38) / Mack (10)

Or:

Okafor (24) / Seraphin (12) / Nene (12)
Nene (16) / Vesley (18) / Seraphin (10) / Okafor (4)
Ariza (28) / Ross (16) / Vesley (4)
Beal (28) / Ariza (12) / Ross (8)
Wall (38) / Mack (10)

Ross is a perfect fit because while he's not a great ballhandler, he's a great shooter, excellent defender, and a stud athlete. Think Jason Richardson with D.

Also forgot the #32 pick, I'd take Jae Crowder and let him get like 6 SF and 4 SG or something.

I'd see if I could keep Booker...but in all likelihood we'd probably have to give him up now. I'd look for the best big available at 32 though, If we were to score Ross+Beal, I don't see why we take Crowder too. Maybe Miles Plumlee or O'quinn.

Assuming we get a starting SG in the draft, I'd go for that. Maybe follow up with Singleton+Crawford+40 to Indy for Jones+26?

DRAFT:
3 - Beal
26 - Wroton
32 - Crowder

LINEUP:
Okafor/Seraphin
Nene/Vesely
Ariza/Babbitt
Beal/Jones/Crowder
Wall/Wroten

I'd really like to pick up another 1st rounder with a target of Terrance Ross in mind.

The picks that seem most obtainable to me are Portland's #11, Houston's #14 & 16, and Minnesota's #18. If we get Beal at #3 I'd be willing to trade Crawford. Crawford is 23, avg 15 pts & 3 assts per game last season. Is he enough straight up for a pick in that range?

I would love to pair Beal with Wall in the backcourt, and boost our bench with SG/SF T.Ross and G D.Lamb at #32, along with Wall and Mack. Mason, Evans, Martin and Almond compete for the finals spots.

Except the Magics owner is 86 and doesn't want to go through a long rebuilding process... sound familiar?

Minny needs a wing who can shoot, no way they trade the 18 pick if Terrence Ross is still available.

nate - why don't we just call it 'Trade Thread' and include date started/renewed?

That's a good idea. I'll go back and add the dates to the old ones that I can find.

some trade ideas to balance roster since the Lewis trade

Blatche, 32 for

Duhon, Q Rich (both expire in 2 years)

We would cut the last year off of Blatche's contract and have more vets at positions of need (Backup PG, perimeter shooting) that expire when Wall's up for extension. Orlando does this if Anderson doesn't resign or they feel as if Anderson would be overpriced.

Booker, Crawford, Singleton S&T for

Mayo (4 years 24 mil), Future 1st
Add wing depth, perimeter shooting, and balances out the roster. Memphis does this to get value out of Mayo, and add cheap depth to their core.

Wall/Duhon/Mack
Barnes/Mayo
Ariza/Barnes/QRich
Nene/Vesley
Okafor/Seraphin/vet

Cool...that may help us who are less Roman numeral inclined...

The newest one is a doozy. The New York Daily News reports the Bulls are seeking a trade for Luol Deng or Joakim Noah in exchange for a lottery pick and a trade exception. Yeah. A trade exception.

Do we want to get in on this action? Rico? nate?

I don't see how we can get involved if they want cap relief. Maybe we could have pulled off something involving Rashard Lewis, but not anymore. I don't see them trading Deng to add Okafor, and there isn't any reason for them to swap Noah straight up for Okafor.

The only thing that might make sense would be some sort of 3-way where Deng comes here, Okafor goes somewhere else, and a traded player exemption from somewhere else goes to Chicago.
