Blazers / Cavs talking deal?

Post#1 » by DusterBuster » Tue Jun 26, 2012 11:00 pm

The Cavs Beat Reporter is on 750 right now. He says that the Cavs aren't crazy about this draft and are willing to move down. He said the Blazers and Cavs have discussed two deals. One of #6 and Claver for #4, but apparently the Cavs turned it down. Then there was rumors of #4 and #24 for #6 and #11, but the beat reporter thinks the Blazers would be crazy to do that (he's right). He says to still keep an eye on that however because there's some history between Olshey and Cavs management and that something might eventually happen with the #4 and #6 alone.

It would make sense that Portland isn't talking about Claver's buyout... We might have agreed to buy out Claver's contract, then added him to 6 to move up to 4.

I don't like the 6 and 11 for 4 and 24 as it is... It would have to grow into something much bigger to make sense for both teams.

Let's hope there's a middle ground there we can hit. Maybe freeland instead of claver. Maybe both?

I'm willing to add any and all ancillary pieces of: 40, 41, EWill, Babbitt, Claver, Freeland and Smith to move up. I'd much rather have a sure thing like MKG or T-Rob

I'm not sure how I feel about this.. Kind of hoping to see what Claver could bring to the table.. Really don't think anyone in this draft is a "sure thing" except Davis..

A history Olshey or Blazers fans or organization should not necessarily brag about.

Adding any asset to move down two spots is iffy, particularly since there seems to be a purported clear cut tier in which blazers pick last (2-6). #6 + #22 ('09) is a bit of an overpay for #4 given previous logic. it's not only another 1st, it's a 1st that older and MUCH more experienced than the average rookie, particularly in that range.

Although, the interest in Claver is feasible from cavs side, fills position of need and they have a history of euro players/american repatriation players.

The real question is, why would blazers want #4?

because from 4, they can do 4 and loosened protection to get to 2?

Ok, that begs the question, why would they want #2?

Portland probably does not have quite enough leverage.

there is such a giant gap in value between the 11th pick and Claver/Freeland/2nd round picks that it might not be bridged

maybe if Portland could get something of value for Crawford that would put this deal over the top.of course, it that was a 1st round pick, would that then become too much?

for instance, what would be better....the 4 + 11 or the 6 + 11 + 22?

So we don't have to bite our nails for the next 4-5 years to see if our big man project actually works out this time and take more of a sure thing

What about Batum/11 for 4, 24, + filler?

This would not only give the Blazers the 4, 6, and 24. It would also save them a significant amount of capspace. Batum's agent wants a Mega deal. Maybe the Blazers just use him to get a higher pick?

If the insinuation is robinson, such a selection makes freeland and hickson inconsequential to blazers. put differently, they PAY to lose those two assets.

Not sexy.

Why would we not take the guy we probably have #2 on our draft board because we're worried about our 2nd and 3rd string PF's?

Insurance against kings taking lillard at 5 like the deal we made with the bulls for lma that only cost us khyrapa. It shouldn't cost us that much since they would still get a top prospect.

I can see this forum lighting up in smoke if we move up to #4 and select Damian Lillard!

If we move up to #4, it seems doubtful it would be for Lillard.

Really? #4 and a ton of cap space? What if Batum walks and the Blazers are left with nothing? They would only be left with the capspace.

In that scenario it would in essense be moving up to #4 from #11 for nothing.
