Predict Lakers roster in 2014/2015

Post#1 » by Kobe Wan Kenobi » Sat Aug 18, 2012 4:35 pm

So i was just wondering myself...how's the team gonna improve, staff, players, everything else.

Will Dwight stay with us, will Dwight leave us?

Sounds silly, but the Lakers will have to rebuild some time. Even though I truly believe the Lakers never rebuild, they just...reload

Depends on the team's success

If we win at least 1 title until then,I see Kobe and Pau resigning on much smaller contracts(Kobe for 1 year)...Nash might retire but may as well play his last year of the contract
A few tweaks here and there but I expect the main core to stay the same for that season(again, assuming we win in the next 2 years )

If we don't win,I see Kobe and Nash retiring,Gasol returning to Europe possibly and start the rebuilding process around Howard
Steve Nash injures his back while carrying bags

Kobe will retire for one season and then return the next year. I know this because Kobe won't be able to live without basketball.

Kyrie Irving playing in Lakerland? Sounds good, though I highly doubt about that lol

Ehh......way too early to even think about this. Let's stay in the moment.

PG-Steve Nash
SG-Kobe Bryant
SF-Carmelo Anthony
PF-Pau Gasol
C-Dwight Howard

Just a hunch but Melo is a fa that year and him and Kobe are close.

Here's what I think is not entirely unlikely:

1) 2013 -- Howard re-signs;

2) 2014 -- Kobe and Pau re-sign for tiny contracts (like vet min range) to allow management to have huge cap space to build a mega team around them, thereby allowing them to continue winning titles and having enormous amounts of fun;

3) 2014 -- Lakers sign LeBron and Melo (if Kobe and Pau are willing to take $2m apiece just so Lakers can sign LeBron and Melo, I could definitely see those two guys signing for a discount to make a mega team happen, especially since by 'discount' I mean they still get to sign long-term contracts starting around $14m)

So here's what the core would look like:

Nash
Kobe
LeBron
Melo/Pau
Howard

And the payroll would look approximately like this:

20 - Howard
14 - LeBron
14 - Melo
9 - Nash
2 - Kobe
2 - Pau
4 - six minimum salary backups
------
$65m (I'm guesstimating a $65m cap in summer 2014)

Then Mitch will find some way to hypnotize Minny into trading Love for Nash/filler/picks the next summer, yielding this in 2015:

LeBron
Kobe
Melo
Love/Pau
Howard

You might as well rule out any recent rookie like Kyrie from the mix. The Restricted FA rules will prevent that from happening.

I was kidding above, but I do seriously believe that Lebron will be a Laker one day.

Pg: some euro that Vlade finds for Us
SG: Kobe on the cheap
SF: Melo
PF: Bosh/ Pau on the cheap
C:Howard/some bum

Bosh comes here as Mia loses the next 2 years and he is used as the scape goat and opts out :)

I'm thinking as soon as Nash retires. Mitch goes after the best PG in the league ATM. I'm thinking Kyrie, than a star wing to replace Kobe when he's gone.

Took the words right out of my mouth. I want our future core to be Howard, Love, Irving. It's not going to happen though. Cleveland has Kyrie locked up for 5 more seasons.

I can see Love signing with up straight up when his contract is up.
