Has most of his makes been dunks, as per last season, or is he showing some signs of having a jump shot this pre-season?

he's made some jump shots but he doesn't have any offensive game still

Apparently, when they told Vesely he needed to gain some bulk, he pulled a Cherokee Parks and gained 30 lbs of fat in the offseason.

He is obviously a step slower and has lost about 12 inches off of his vert.

Is this true? They told him to bulk up? If so, I'm wondering when folks are going to catch on that "bulk" isn't as important in basketball as strength and agility.

If the Zards mgt. did indeed tell Jan to "bulk up" my guess is they were really talking about him getting stronger rather than bulkier. "Bulk up" is just a generic term, imo. No one tells a person to "strength up."

I've been following the Leonard vs.Thompson debate...very interesting. I think comparing Thompson and Leonard is a little bit of apples and oranges since they bring different skills/strengths to the table. Both players had solid rookie seasons that showed their impressive potential.

I wanted the Zards to draft Leonard with the 6th pick and he's proven to be worthy of being that pick. Thompson is probably going to be one of the best shooters of his generation of NBA players. Yes, Thompson will need to do more than shoot well to be a great player, but guys with Klay's shooting ability are not easy to find. He's special in that regard.

Or Jan has money for the first time in his life and spent the summer eating out every day.

Whatever. The result is he's obviously overweight, to my eyes anyway, and a step slow as a result.

Any chance Ves gets to log some time in the D-League? He needs to work on his game and not in Wizards games when they count.

He grew 30 lbs of tattoos?

I concur that he looked slower in the preseason. Hopefully, it's just temporary.

Vesely looked slow in summer league as well. I wonder if the Wizards did tell him to bulk up, did they also provide him with a dietitian and trainer so he could add bulk properly or just expect him to do it correctly on his own?

If this were the Spurs, they would send him to the D-League and he wouldn't be back until the coaches had him ready for minutes. Spending some time with Dakota would be just what the doctor ordered, Jan can work on his game w/o the pressure. It won't happen.

Oh, I'm sure they gave him detailed instructions and he just screwed it up.

From the SA final preseason game....

Ves stroke from the FT line looking a lot better.

Oh... Nice and 1 from Ves. Rebounds and put back without coming down.

Oh no... Ves has it going. He did the same thing again.

Ves again. 7 pts in like 2 minutes.

Ves from 17... LOL.. 2 more pts.

9 pts in 5 minutes. Ves is ripping it up. For a brief period, Ves was the main event on offense ripping off back to back to back pts. He even had his first HEAT CHECK shot. Awesome.

He ended with 13 pts in 22 min which tied with Price to lead the team. 5-8 and 3 for 3 from the line. He is looking much better at the line. I dare say I think he has worked out his FT shooting. He should be shooting in the .700 to .730 range this year. He is 9-12 this pre season which is .750

I think Vesely needs to go to Dleague and play 35 min a night. He needs to learn how to play american style basketball. He needs to learn the basics.

Dleague him. Do it now while he can still be developed before it's too late.

So when are you all going to admit Jan Vesely is a bust?

It's sad because I think Vesely is more so proof that Ernie Grunfeld is a bust. Vesely would've been a nicer addition had he been picked at 17, somewhere around the spot Seraphin was selected.

Had the 6th pick been used correctly the Wizards would have the core of the starting lineup complete right now, instead the team is still missing that piece.

Lebron, Wade, Bosh

Durant, Harden, Westbrook

Wall, Beal, ???

I hope I don't have to look at Grunfeld violently chewing his stupid gum, wearing that stupid poker face in D.C. for too much longer when everyone knows he doesn't measure up to other GM's . Pull off another lopsided trade that favors the Wizards and then be gone.

I disagree he is a bust, Ernie's plan is working perfectly.

1. Get as many ping pong balls as you can in 2012/13
2. Draft the most memorable kisser in draft history
3. Make sure Washington is not a top tier FA destination, because we "MIGHT" get knuckleheads

Vesely is just a bust using the above.

Jan Vesely wouldn't have been a good pick at 17 either, he is 2nd round material at-best because he has no basketball skills.
