You can't overlook that we dumped $13.7M in Lewis' salary as part of the Ariza acquisition.

Okafor is earning roughly twice what Ariza is earning, so one way of looking at it is to credit about $9.1M of that Lewis savings to Okafor's contract, and $4.6M of the Lewis savings to Ariza's contract. In that light, Ariza is costing roughly $5.2M a year for 2 years.

Fields is costing $6.25M a year for 3 years. Which is the better deal? I'm not sure. I don't really like either one.

Your kidding right ?

I tried that several times in the past. Where were you then ?

Another way to look at it I posted recently. Both cost no more then Gil does over the next two years and they got Lewis for two tank years. One of which brought them Beal. :D

Wait a minute. Are you saying we don't have to pay the last year of Lewis' contract? OH BOY! Did you guys hear that? WOO HOO!

Dont count on it at ALL. I know Webster, he played on the Wolves the last 2 years and I've watched almost every Wolves game since. He is not a good player, it's as simple as that, he doesnt have the skills to breakout or be a good player.

Webster is playing like he wants to be there and be a starter. Ariza isn't... Real shame

He definately doesnt make smart decisions. At least not all of last year. He once dunked the ball with 2 seconds left when the Wolves were down by three.

If there is one thing you can't lecture Wizards fans on it's BBIQ.

Trust us, we know stupid

I have no delusions of Webster becoming a star, but he appears to be on the fast track to at least start the year at the 3.

If he the SF equivalent of Nick Young with passable rebounding, I think the Wizards can live with that.

The Wizards let talented players go to other teams and mature or get a new start. Hopefully the Wizards are that new start for Martell and he shows maturation as a player compared to his previous teams. He is talented.

He doesn't have to be good to be the best 3 on the Wizards roster.

If Wittman gives him a fair shake he could be in the MIP running.

With Beal being a good distributor and Wall out an extended period of time, there will be a lot of shots for Webster. It's refreshing to see a SF that can put the ball on the floor if needed.

This is webster I remember from Portland, before his injury: not a great player, and probably not a long-term fix at the SF position, but is a rotation-player and fringe-starter.

If he can just play that role, he will be a huge upgrade over what we have had recently. And, unfortunately, another reminder that we probably didn't need to spend 30 million on Okafor and Ariza....

It's too bad Webster doesn't have Ariza's deal and Ariza is not a guy the Wizards can cut.
Bye bye Beal.

Let's just go ahead and say it

Ariza is pulling a Bibby/Lewis
Dude wants to be traded/cut. He has no interest in playing for the Wizards. End of story. If he plays **** enough, he'll be let go eventually

Probably under order to lock up a nice pre-lottery slot for you guys in the draft. That, or he was watching a JaVale McGee motivational video before the game.

If that's his game, bench his arse, on his best day he isn't any better (or at best, is barely better) than anyone on the roster.

He has a player option. So if the Wiz brass makes it clear that (a) he's not going to play and/or (b) they are going to try to trade him (i.e. to a place Ariza does not choose) it increases the likelihood that Ariza will not exercise his option and will go sign somewhere he wants to play next summer. The fly in the oinment could that Ariza can't get a contract for more longterm money than the year he has left. Him stinking it up is therefore far from an ideal scenario.

I'd park Ariza's ass all the way at the end of the bench behind Webster, Singleton and Martin. Tell him he better start committing to the team or he won't play a single minute this year and he'll be unlikely to ever sign a new contract in this league for more than the vet minimum.
