I dunno, if he was 32 or something then maybe but in some of the GSW games I watched he looked great in limited minutes (defensively especially). Even if it means taking a year off to get somewhere close to normality he'll still impact the game, he'd only be "done" if he was someone that relied on athleticism to succeed and we all know that's not the case.

Eh. I still think he'll be a force on the defensive end. Wont be relied on to be a scorer.

Cue the haters.

I don't know anymore. It might take him 2 years to recover from what normally would be a few months?

He was ok for the Warriors this season in limited minutes but even their defense was 2.6 points better per 100 possessions with him off the court (offense 7 points better without him). Which is a bit alarming when his replacement at C is a combination of Festus Ezeli and David Lee, not exactly defensive anchors.

I'm a fan of Bogut and I wish the best for him, but its looking very possible that we completely fleeced them in the Monta deal.

We were talking about him being back toward the end of last season when he first had the ankle injury, and he still isn't recovered now. If it is bothering him this much, given the realities of the NBA, the demands on his body, and the fact that its been so long since he played regularly its pretty likely that he won't be 100% for the rest of this season either, or at least the lions share of it even if everything goes right from this point.

Hope he comes back but I really don't care at this point, he's not our problem anymore.

Our problem now is Monta.

I'm still not sure where the two years came from, but the second part made sense. He injured the ankle about 10 months ago but for some reason they held off the surgery until 6 months ago - I don't think the Bucks doctors had any intention of giving him the surgery. He was walking around before the surgery but clearly the Warriors wanted to get it done and they are being extremely cautious with him now.

He'll probably come back sometime in the future and be a good defensive player, but the days of being an elite defensive player with solid offense are over. The injuries and natural regression will make sure of it.

We're 17-11 in games Monta has played, that's a helluva problem.

Should have said that it looks like he will lose the better part of 2 seasons rather than 2 years. My fault for not using more precise language.

If he keeps playing the way he is, he sure will be a problem. I can't imagine him stay this bad, though I'm not sure he gets near last season.

But Monta is also a problem. He's a guy who needs the ball and this season Brandon is proving he's the alpha of the two. We'll likely make the playoffs this season and that will likely mean Monta will stay past the deadline. When he walks after the season or we overpay to keep the back court together there really isn't a winning scenario there.

He was playing in like 3-5 minute spurts, I don't know how much you can gleam from that. He passed the eye test at least.

And we completely folded against just about every good team and Monta is averaging 20 shots a game on a 48% true shooting percentage. That isn't good. At all.

Grant Hill, Yao Ming, Bill Walton.......

We moved at the right time.

And if Bogut comes back strong next year, and he were still on our roster......we would have a terrible debate over whether to try and extend his contract.

I don't think he was terrible but he clearly wasn't close to 100%.

I doubt he'll ever get back to player he was offensively(not great to begin with so he isn't that losing much) but once his ankle heals up, I don't see any reason he can't be the defensive force people expect him to be. I'd be way more concerned if it was his back rather than just his ankle.
