It wouldn't hurt to sign Tracy McGrady. He was actually very solid in minimal minutes for Atlanta.

Maybe the Cavs PG problem could benefit the Lakers

Post#84 » by WCDYNASTY » Tue Nov 20, 2012 2:35 am

As you know, Kyrie Irving will be out four weeks with a non-displaced fracture of his left index finger. They have a couple other point guards in Sloan and Pargo who are horrible.

Maybe the Lakers could send Chris Duhon ($3,500,000) and Earl Clark ($1,240,000 - EXP) to the Cavs for Daniel Gibson ($4,792,332 - EXP)... the Cavs would get a decent PG to start while Kyrie recovers and the Lakers would get an expiring contract in Gibson, not to mention that he is a good 3pt shooter who could probably do well in D'Antoni's offense. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Gibson is a great option here but I'd rather have his expiring contract than Duhon's (2-years including this season) & Clark's... worse case scenario the Lakers would have an expiring contract to trade before the deadline.

Another shooter? Yes please. But he will be our third string PG once Nash gets back. I still want Morris to be our back up PG. Can he play SG on a small ball?

This guy seems to get injured a lot for a young player.

Boobie plays both guard positions so yes.

Been a fan of him since 2007 seeing him against the Pistons and I'd love him on this team. He does get hurt a lot though

I'd rather bring back Goudelock to be honest but either would be good.

I don't think most people realize how good Boobie is. If you take the defensive aspect of the game away from him (by putting him on PGs), you're talking about a guy that on a mediocre team has consistently shot in the 40s...

Ray Allen's percentage jumped ten points going to an elite team. Boobie is an elite shooter, no not a good shooter a great one. Next to Kobe and Morris he'd be something.

Bobcats Trade: Ben Gordon, 2013 and 2014 2nd Round Picks
Bobcats Recieve: Nene, Earl Clark

Why? Is there a better fit at center than Nene for this team (besides Dwight)? I don't think so. Big upgrade here. They sacrifice some cap space in the next couple years but it would be extremely difficult to get a player as good as Nene to come to Charlotte.

Nene /Mullens /Haywood /Diop
Biyombo /Thomas
Kidd-Gilchrist /Taylor /Clark
Henderson /Williams /Higgins
Walker /Sessions
(14 players)

Wizards Trade: Nene, Trevor Ariza, Jan Vesely, 2013 Top 8 Protected 1st Round Pick
Wizards Recieve: Pau Gasol, Steve Blake

Why? Okafor and Nene seems like a terrible fit. Judging by their recent moves, the Wizards are looking to make the playoffs this year. Pau Gasol and John Wall is a legit 1-2 punch to get them in the top 8 in the East. Also, Pau is on a much shorter deal than Nene so if they end up failing, they can rebuild quickly with his near $20 million expiring next year. Steve Blake will provide them a much needed backup PG.

Okafor /Seraphin /Barron
Gasol /Booker
Webster /Singleton /Martin
Beal /Crawford /Livingston
Wall /Blake /Price
(14 players)

Lakers Trade: Pau Gasol, Steve Blake, Earl Clark
Lakers Recieve: Ben Gordon, Trevor Ariza, Jan Vesely, 2013 Top 8 Protected 1st Round Pick, 2013 and 2014 2nd Round Picks

Why? Cap space. Youth. It's time to end the relationship with Pau as all he is being used for is an (ineffective) spot up shooter. His defense has been mediocre at best at times and he has overall been a negative player to have on the court. Lakers have Hill to fill a lot of his minutes, as well as World Peace, who might be better suited (on offense and defense) to play the 4 at this point in his career and in the D'Antoni system. Bryant-Ariza-World Peace-Howard with any other guard makes one of the best defensive lineups ever and will work even better on offense with Nash running it. Ben Gordon will be an incredible scorer off the bench which is what LA needs more than anything. And they will get to see what Nash can do with Vesely who can be like a Euro Shawn Marion. The draft picks can also help should the Lakers look to replace some more of their bigger contracts with cheap younger options.

Howard /Hill /Sacre
World Peace /Jamison
Ariza /Vesely /Ebanks
Bryant /Gordon /Meeks /Johnson-Odom
Nash /Morris /Duhon
(15 players)

Would you want more for Pau?

Bargs can't rebound, can't hustle, can't defense, Pau at this point still better than him.

We should deal him for athletic (but smart) PF n an useful filler.

Mikey D would love Amare/Shump for Gasol/Artest.

Bring in one of Mike's favorites in Amare for Gasol. To offset the value contract wise, LAL gets Shump who was looking really good last year and LAL gets to dump Atrest on NY.

I like Shump alot but i need to see Amare play a bit before bringing him to LA. IF he's plays good, then maybe.. HATE his contract though. I'm not sure i wanna get rid of MWP, he's our best perimeter defender by FAR, plus his offense has been great lately. Happy that he took it upon his self to get in shape this summer.

I like Brooks as well. Plus Kobe is his favorite player and he plays like him a little bit. Wouldn't mind having him here tbh.
