Michael Kidd-Gilchrist Prime

Post#1 » by DerrickRose23 » Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:12 pm

This kid, anyone who has seen this kid can see he is one of the elite talents in the league that will be great it is more a case of when he will be great. His prime I think he can be a Scottie Pippen type - has UNBELIEVABLE defense, anticipation, length, activity level, motor, rebounds like few others in the league and anchors a defense from the guard/foward spot. Offensively I think he projects as a 19ppg scorer on 49%ish shooting- he is VERY solid and competent. His team attitude will lead to potential championships for Bobcats - once they get their 'main' guy offensively through draft or FA. I am very impressed.
Question:
What level of player do you think he is (I am going to got with future top 10 player)

What will his prime stats be.
I say 19.4 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3 assists, 1.7 blocks, 2.5 steals, shooting 48 % shooting, 34 % from three and 85

Really? lol my bad! Pippen is what i project him to be - and i think in most other drafts in the last couple years he'd have been the best talent. This year he'll be second best after AD

If he can develop a consistent jumper, he can be an elite player, given the lack of genuine top talent at swingman positions in recent drafts. He's the most impressive player to me in this year's draft, may be as much as Davis.

I've always compared him to Pippen...
Pippen-lite.

Pippen improved every year for his first 5 years though to become that good.
And Pippen is very athletic, polished skills and Jordan-trained if that makes sense.

He has been impactful so far... Defensively, very beastly for a rookie.

Love his potential and game.

His intangibles will keep him above a Gerald Wallace prime like some people say he will be.

I could see him becoming LBJ lite when its all said and then. He can work on his finishing and jumpshot, and many other offensive avenues will open for him. For him to be doing what he's doing, being as raw as he is, is pretty damn impressive. Wallace is probably his floor.

He is only 19 is the scary part. He can be 20/10/2/2 easily in about 5 years. He is so reliant on his athleticism though that you have got to hope no serious injury happens otherwise his career is doomed. Not a good shooter and all of his offense and defense relies on his athleticism and energy.

I've been saying it all along, that MKG is much better than T-Rob and is the best prospect after AD. I love his game, versatile and team-oriented.

You think MKG has the potential to be good enough to carry a bad team to a 55 win season, and deserve an MVP award that was arguably wrongly denied to him? And be the greatest perimeter defender ever?

I need to watch him more, I guess. Pippen is a ridiculously high bar.

MKG is pretty damn good.

Pippen had a consistent jumpshot that he wasn't afraid to take. Until MKG gets that jumpshot and range, he won't be as good as Pippen.

But the intangibles are there. The Bobcats are freaking 5-4 in a weak east and may actually contend for a playoff spot.

I don't know if there are stats for this but MKG is probably one of the best in the NBA at finishing at the rim and in transition. I really can't remember him missing a bucket in transition. He is either automatic or fouled.

He is a way better dribbler than anyone imagined, he can actually run the point forward. Man his future is bright. Just gotta stay healthy.

It's entirely possible. MKG's presence alone is one of the reasons the Bobcats are improved.

I think a worse version of Pippen is his ceiling and what I expect him to become.

He already has better court-vision and ability to play point forward than Wallace. Crash is a more tenacious rebounder but a very suspect ball handler and offensive option.

On defense he can be as good as anyone. He moves his feet well enough to get to a Tony Allen/Bruce Bowen level with his man to man D. A lot of people compare him to Wallace because of the blocks and rebounds, but Wallace was never a great on ball guy. Most of Gerald Wallace's blocks came on weak side help. MKG can make the weak side block but also gets a lot of blocks on his man playing on ball D.

On offense it all depends on if he can develop a solid jumper. Without one he can probably still average around 15 ppg. With a jump shot the sky is the limit.

All depends on jumper. Players are beginning to play way off him for the drive and he still blows by them. If he can get just an average jump shot to keep defenders honest than hes going
to be the 3rd best SF in the league behind James, and Durant in 2-3 years.
