11/21/2012 articles - New quotes from Buerhle and Johnson

Post#1 » by Double Helix » Wed Nov 21, 2012 8:10 pm

Merge where necessary. Two new articles with quotes from both Buerhle, his agent, and Johnson. First, Buerhle. EDIT: I've included a new quote from the 2nd post in this thread.

Just like the fans in South Florida," Buehrle said in a joint statement released with his agent, Jeff Berry, "I was lied to on multiple occasions."

His agent:

This is unquestionably a business, and signing with the Marlins was a calculated risk. Mark held up his end of the bargain; unfortunately, the same can't be said of the Marlins."

“That said, Mark is a consummate professional and is looking forward to joining his new teammates in Toronto.”

Up next are some new quotes from Johnson, which are much more enthusiastic here:

What his initial was when he found out the rumors were true:

“A little confused. I thought or was hoping that I would at least go until the All-Star break and then the trade rumors would start going. I was hoping for one more shot at making something happen down there in Miami, but that’s just kind of how the business goes and now I’m really excited to move on and start a new chapter in my career.”

and

I was really confused by the (Jose) Reyes and (Mark) Buerhle trades. I’m glad they’re coming with me, really good team up there but those kind of confused me, especially after them saying that they were going to be there for the long term.”

Thanks. I hadn't seen that one yet. I've added it to the OP.

Good job. You start your first thread in a long time and a media member links it. I guess you produce quality over quantity.

When your boss tells you something that makes you assume things are one way, then goes back on that, your initial displeasure will be with that boss. Perhaps based on the information they were given they began planning a life in Miami.

They'll get over it...their salaries and a winning team have a way of helping that along.
