Asik a Thunder... What would this mean?

Post#1 » by parso15 » Thu Nov 29, 2012 9:28 pm

People on the Bulls board are playing a bash your old player game and argue that a Perkins Asik swap would not add anything to OKC... I for one believe that such a thing would put OKC over the top. Whats your take?

similar screen setting, blocks turnover but grabs way more rebounds, has more size(?)

Houston would be mad to consider a deal.

Any trade involving Perkins leaving and being replaced by someone who can rebound = an auto upgrade.

I've seen every Houston/OKC game this year, and it's incredible to see how good Asik is at rebounding.

Asik also doesn't do B.S. things such as arbitrarily deciding to defend point guards or bring the ball up the floor.

I'll give Perkins 1-2 plays to do the PG thing he wants if he can play like today always.

Since Brooks not going to reduce his minutes, might as well make him productive. We can go on a big(or is that small) lineup whereby
Perkins vs PG
Westbrook vs SG
Thabo vs SF
Durant vs PF
Ibaka vs C

Note: that's means >50%FG/70%FT, 6 RPG, 2BPG, 2 Assist in less than 24mins, i.e. minimally his average as a minimum...

For me, the biggest stat that stands out is Asik averaging 12.3 RPG. Perkins...only 5 RPG.

Give Asik minutes, and he'll get you rebounds.

Brooks doesn't play Perk in the 4Q anymore, thats a positive i guess..

But yes, Asik is 5x the player Perk is. We should have tried to nab him in the trade (Not that i know we didn't)

Why would Houston even think about this? Does Harden just miss Perk that bad?

Asik is younger, taller, a vastly better rebounder, less volitility from a personality and effort standpoint, and at this point probably a better all around defender.
