Playoff watch 2012-2013 [Last updated: 12/30/12]

With our injuries, every game counts. EVERY GAME

Update 12/30/12

Currently tied-8th seed

Image

Key games

SAS vs DAL - Have to gain as much of an advantage against Dallas as we possibly can
UTA vs LAC - Like I said above, need to gain an advantage over the Jazz too

Our next game: Jan 2nd @ UTA - I think this road game will be a huge test if we are a playoff team or not, sooner or later we need to start winning tough road games.

The teams I highlighted in bold are the teams that we need to win if we want to be in the playoff hunt, especially with Rubio hurt.

I think it's too early to be concerned with teams like Portland, GSW, others who will in all likelihood not make the playoffs beating those who should like the Clippers, Lakers, etc.

I am actually rooting for the underdogs. I think these early losses could mean the difference between a higher seed at the end of the season. Plus having the "bad" teams win now puts them that much farther away from the top couple picks next year -- hopefully pushes those guys to the Eastern conference!

Key games Games for Nov. 10th 2012

Mavs @ Bobcats - Unlikely, but would be awesome for Charlotte to pull out a win here
Pistons @ Rockets - The less WC teams we need to compete with, the better.
Suns @ Jazz - You want the Suns to win this game, Jazz are more of a playoff threat.
Spurs @ Blazers - No way in hell Blazers are a playoff team, get Spurs a loss so the gap between us and them isn't huge.
Nuggets @ Warriors - I honestly don't know. I can see both teams competing for a playoff spot in March, Nuggets being a higher seed than the Warriors.

Key games Games for Nov. 15th 2012

NYK vs SAS
MIA vs DEN

Two games that I think the East could take tonight, closing the gap between two playoffs teams and us. With players injured, EVERY win counts.

Update:

key games for 11/18/12:

GSW vs OKC - Gotta get GSW as many losses as we can, they are our main comp. for the POs
CHI vs POR - Always nice to see POR lose
HOU vs LAL - No denying that LA is a PO team, HOU could be a surprise PO team, can't let that happen.

And yet, we're just two games behind home-court advantage in the first round.

Everyone is really lumped together out west right now besides the top teams and the Lakers haven't made their run. We have as good of a chance as anyone to start playing well. I hate the Warriors though. I just want them to start losing

its only a matter of time before Curry goes down, I don't think the Warriors keep that pace with no Bogut.

I dont know. I watch them play a lot. Curry and Thompson might be the absolute best scoring backcourt in the NBA. Those dudes RARELY miss and they shoot a ton. David Lee is a really underrated player and is a perfect compliment to those 2. You would think that those 3 is all they have but there's actually more to them. Barnes has been erratic, but when he's on he's a tough guard. And honestly their bench is pretty nasty. Landry (who I wanted for our bench) and Jack give them instant offense and hustle on every play. Even without Bogut, I think they are here to stay

GSW are going to stay in the playoff hunt but they aren't going to stay at .600 and be gunning for home court without Bogut.

We get the 7th best record if Houston loses to LA.

tough two weeks ahead of us right now.
14 @NO W
15 Dallas W (beware of Mayo in kobe Mode)(if Rubio is back we'll win this one)
17 @Orlando W (if not too tired)
18 @Miami L
20 OKC L
23 @NY L

i'm guessing 3 - 3
