As do we all.
For instance myself, when I point out that Alexey Shved is proving to be a pretty competent NBA player, not that we could have used a solid young point guard who's a viable perimeter threat going into the year.
Yeah, that's nice.

Kareem would look skinny two but he had very heavy bones and didn't get pushed around easily at any level. Not the case with most the crappy defensive center prospects in this draft.
Lower legs strength and bone density is heavily genetic.
guys who haven't developed lower body strength by age 18 just aren't meant to man the post full time. they are defensive specialist. I compare them to the a third down back in football that can catch the ball but he can't take the pounding on every down because he does't have the frame.
You need a certain frame to be a dominant post player. We should have drafted Drummond if we wanted a center prospect.

i
hope beal does well but he was never on my radar as a prospect, always
loved mkg when he was ranked low and worse than barnes. things changed
once kentucky play unc and the ranking flipped. after him i wanted
drummond. never been a fan of undersized players at their position
also just imagine a big rotation that includes nene, seraphin and drummond wouldn't need okafor. also i think proper sized bigs who can rebound and defend are rarer than small sg's. i mean good pg's and sg's are there every draft at our draft level

+1 no matter how good the SG shoots, if he's undersized and not a playmaker, he has no business being drafted top 5 IMO.

Re: ~~~2013 (DRAFT) thread ~~~tank it!!
As much as I like the 2014 draft with all the top rated wing players...Wiggins, Parker, Harrison, Ledo, Gordon, etc., we shouldn't even think about trading this year's draft pick. I'm pretty positive that there will be a good player by the end of the season and we could possibly win the lotto.
If Shabazz is the best player, I say pick him. Having Beal is absolutely no reason to not pick an elite SG with the top pick. I believe we're gonna suck again next year though, Ted and Ernie will make sure of that.

Re: ~~~2013 (DRAFT) thread ~~~tank it!!
Someone who's actually been exceptional at the college level probably, though the combination of a lack of games to judge, the eligibility weirdness and the Howland Effect (TM) make it hard to really judge him fairly right now. But really it'll probably be James McAdoo or something because we're the Wizards.
Is there a consensus "anybody but that guy" guy yet? Is it McAdoo?
Also, for the Shabazz contingent, why are you sold on him? Honestly I don't see much right now beyond a solid but not exceptional start to his college career, a lot of residual attention based on recruit ranking stuff and probably nice youtube highlights, which isn't an overwhelming package. What else is there?

Too hard to say based on his college performance. Talk to me in March.
But he's been on my radar for the last year. Dude has good size and athleticism for his position. Seems to have a complete game. Post up, driving, popping it from outside.
I haven't watched a full UCLA game so take my words with a grain of salt.

I'm guessing Gobert will be just about every fanbase's "anyone but that guy" player

Re: ~~~2013 (DRAFT) thread ~~~tank it!!
I'm questionable on the expectations that people have on Shabazz. He's not an franchise wing in the mold of kobe or wade. He's putting up 16ppg on good-not-great percentages and has a disturbing low assist total (4 assists in 6 games). Beal has identical scoring and better overall collegiate stats.
I wouldn't even put Shabazz on the "very good" tier with OJ Mayo. I'd optimistically expect him to be like Afflalo at best and not to contribute meaningfully until his 4th or 5th season. At worst, Ronnie Brewer.

I like Michael Carter Williams, Syracuse, a lot. Right now he's putting up absolutely sick numbers for an undefeated Orange squad.
(His last game he had 15 points, 16 assists, 5 steals and 4 blocks against Monmouth. )

Re: ~~~2013 (DRAFT) thread ~~~tank it!!
The steals, blocks and rebounds are pretty dreamy, but two things still give me pause about Carter-Williams, his really lackluster scoring numbers and the enormous boner "basketball purists" always get for guys on good college teams with a lot of assists. You end up having a lot of the guy's perceived value wrapped up in "leadership" and "savvy" and butterflies and he-can-take-my-daughter-out-for-the-evening factor or whatever and you're just not getting good value anymore. Then you have lottery pick Kendall Marshall, and that's less exciting.

Re: ~~~2013 (DRAFT) thread ~~~tank it!!
Weird. My 2 red flags for him are a) his age and b) his range. Otherwise I think he's a great prospect and could carve out a very nice career for himself like Andre Miller did, and like Jeremy Lin is trying to do.

Re: ~~~2013 (DRAFT) thread ~~~tank it!!
pancakes i think shabazzs playmaking isnt there yet. that being said the reason i like him is because he is not undersized, has long arms, strong and has a quick first step and is explosive so no mechanical weakness. he can score, he is putting up those numbers as an out of shape freshman who never played with the team. mentally he is competitive and tough on teammates like kobe or jordan. he has a good motor and will be able to physically dominate. i also think we need a closer not a center who isn't ideal. should have drafted drummond then shabazz, instead of beal plus whoever

Some of us liked Drummond (me) a lot of us were scared that he was a Kwame type knucklehead with no offensive game. The issue with guys like Drummond is always whether or not you're willing to roll the dice on a player whose got a 50% chance of being a dominant superstar and a 50% chance of being a subpar, appalling, knucklehead with a very limited game. I'd always take the risk and roll the dice, you win nothing with solid to above average players, you need to get a difference maker whose elite. Drummond was our only shot at that after we got screwed in the lottery but there was zero chance we were gonna pull the trigger on that after McGee. Maybe we get lucky this draft. We're due as usual.

By committing (through trades) $30 million+ per year at the three front court positions, on top of using four of the last 1st round picks on those same positions, and with Wall at PG, EG pretty much set it up where it would have been a little awkward to take anything but a SG with the #3. Maybe he took the wrong SG, but how would he justify taking Drummond after acquiring Nene, Okafor, and Seraphin? (Other than saying, "Guys, remember that trade I just made? Turns out I f**ked up.") I'm assuming if they landed the #1 pick, they wouldn't have traded for Okafor, but it is Terd and Ernie, so who knows?

I kind of disagree with the 50% chance superstar/50% bust label. I kind of always felt Drummond was most likely to fall in the middle, a guy who gives you 10-13 pts, 9-10 rebs, and a couple blocks but isn't offensively gifted enough to be a star. Like the player Deandre Jordan is turning into
