FREE GREG SMITH

Post#1 » by moofs » Wed Dec 5, 2012 3:52 am

We found our Chuck Hayes.

He doesn't miss.
He doesn't turnover.
He rebounds like a rebound gathering person.

They even look alike, but I thought he was 6'8" for some reason.
(the thread is a direct result of Lakers game, the sentiment is not)

Smith has a wide body, good rebounder, good defender, tough guy, big hand. Remind me of chuck Haye without passing.

This game is still an anomaly more than anything.

If Smith just continue to give us solid minute at backup 5 i'm more than content.

He's actually almost 20\10 per 36.

Dropped by to say, regardless of last night btw, that I really like this kid.

Chuck Hayes really comes to mind when u see him in a Rockets uniform :D He's an above average athlete though which at first really surprised me (He went way up for some contact dunk and I was like "he can do THAT?") His hands are HUGE though.

Great find from you guys. Houston's best kept secret.

His per 36 stats are impressive: 19 pts, 11 reb, 0.9 TO, 63% FG, 82% FT. And it's not just an anomaly from Tuesday's game, because he had already logged 135 mins before Tuesday. I'd like to see him get 20 mins/game.

Well, good then. I'm glad we're all on the same page. :)

He's not there yet, but maybe down the road Greg Smith can turn into GREG MOTHA F**KIN SMITH. rocketsballin will inform us when Smith reaches that status, I'm sure.

Greg Smith is nothing like Hayes... Hayes destroyed people defensively he would have said **** hack a Dwight ill just steal the ball 5 times!

Smith is just a man child dunking at will... Anything he throws up goes in.

I guess they have similar stregth and hustle but... That's about it

We're really talking about the spirit of Chuck Hayes more than anything.

For me to compare anyone to Hayes is high praise. Whether the Gregwagon has his consistency remains to be seen.

Thanks for helping me with my reading comprehension. haha

I was actually gonna make a thread on something similar to that concept, on all current players.

Ah when reading the thread title I wasn't where you were going with it. He could have a pretty good NBA career.

Yeah, he's not the defensive maelstrom that vet Chuck was, and I don't see that lightning ballswat coming from him anytime soon, and on defense he isn't as likely to move as a pre-global-warming glacier, BUT the high rebounding rate and offensive efficiency look to be there, he's been d-leagued to start his career, and he isn't getting enough minutes yet like young Chuck.

Just as importantly he looks a lot like the Wagon.

Once he gets a position on you, you're done.

It looked like such easy points today too, moving without the ball or running the floor to beat his man, and just putting it up there.

Kid got a very nice touch around the rim, he has the potential to be a very good post player.

Dude has to improve his game, now that he has scored 20+ in two games, other teams will put him on the radar when he comes in, which means no more sneaking in for easy lay ins.
His defense is still not solid ,3 blocks and 6 rebounds tonight, but 6 of garnet '14points were scored when smith was on the floor eventhough they were on the floor together for less than 10 minutes

True. Some SG-SF swing-man depth to reduce Harden & Chandler's minutes, or an upgrade entirely over Delfino/Patterson would be much appreciated.

Looks like Smith will get some minutes with Patterson out.
