Kings Suspend Cousins Indefinitely - reinstated 12/25

Post#1 » by hands11 » Sat Dec 22, 2012 11:44 pm

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/22 ... definitely

So this was the fella some of you wanted us to draft ?

As if this franchise didn't have enough issue.

Maybe one day he will be an asset but the kid has some growing up to do.

At some point the risk may be worth it. If he keep this stuff up he should become available for less. Kind of like what happen to Dray. Maybe now is the time.

God that was stupid paying Dray all that money to leave. Never sell low. Hell, they didn't even sell low. They paid him to go low.

I think quite a few of us see this as the time to snag him for cheap. We have to make some type of big move. We look like a pick up game at my local gym.

If we can dump a big contract like Okafor or Ariza, even better.

It all depends on your definition of cheap.

Straight up for Vesely, sure. Singleton, sure. Booker, definitely. Seraphin? No way.

The Wizards are dumb enough to give up this year's lottery pick. They are stupid enough to give away Seraphin straight up for Cousins at a time when Cousins' stock couldn't be lower. Seraphin looked fine until they f'd up the roster. Knowing the Wizards, they will consider each of their young players abject crap.

Cousins has one more season and some issues that make me not want him if Wall isn't 100% good to go.

I would take Cousins for my definition of cheap, preferably Okafor for Cousins and Salmons' wretched deal.
Bye bye Beal.

Seraphin and Vesely for Cousins right now would be a mistake the Wizards are dumb enough to make.

I would LOVE to see them dump Okafor and/or Ariza, but Ernie can't pull that off.
Bye bye Beal.

I promise you Seraphin will show how he got 16 double figure scoring games in a row last season. Seraphin is a fine post defender. Seraphin is lost right now but he's not a bum by any stretch.

Cousins had trouble with Westphal and now with Smart. I was driving the Boogie Cousins bus before, but I'm thinking for once buy LOW. Don't give up Seraphin straight up.

What Cousins does well is rebound, but he's a very inefficient scorer and with his issues now I'm not so sure about him.
Bye bye Beal.

CCJ, Boogie Cousins has never played with a PG or a smart vet post player like Nene. We know Boogie loves Wall (remember the rookie game)? I'd easily trade Seraphin for Cousins. You have to trade value to get value.

We always over-value our own players until its too late, and I'm tired of it. Once they show signs, sell HIGH! Nobody would trade Booker last year.....we should have.

Yup. Cousins' potential >>>>>>> Seraphin's potential. We have to understand that, if our players were so highly regarded around the league, we wouldn't be arguably the worst franchise in professional sports.

Tell you what. I won't be sad if they do trade Seraphin for Cousins.

As I think about it, the Wizards need to do SOMETHING. I think Wall should be healthy and playing for Cousins to work out. Seraphin's not a big time player. At best he's decent, but he's not a big-time player.
Bye bye Beal.

I trade Seraphin for Cousins without hesitation. Throw in a lotto protected 1st (protected for 4 years and then turns into a 2nd rounder). If Cousins turns it around, the Wizards should be out of the lottery within 3 years and that pick will be worth something. If Cousins bombs, then Sacramento doesn't get much value.

I'd have no problem trading Seraphin and any one of (Vesely, Booker, Crawford or Singleton) for Cousins.

Seraphin is another high usage, low efficiency big like Cousins. Only Cousins is far more talented and already an elite rebounder.

To me, its not much risk. I wouldn't include any pick and losing Seraphin & filler isn't a big deal considering the other disastrous deals we've made recently.

If Cousins is a problem, he just won't be in our long term plans. But he gets a 2nd chance in DC with his best friend. I suspect he'll try a little harder than he did in Sacramento.

You wouldn't do a protected 1st rounder? Even in this weak draft? If that was all that separated us from another team getting Cousins?

This draft is PG strong and has some MAJOR talent in it

McCollum is a darned good player and he might not even go lottery. Otto Porter and Alex Poythress can play. I would keep the pick.
Bye bye Beal.

No. Draft picks are too important right now. Nothing offers more value than a productive player on his rookie contract. We just need to make them count. I might bend on a 2nd rounder (knowing it could be a high one) if they really push it but nothing beyond that.

The way I see it, offering a lotto protected pick isn't much of a sacrifice. It's a sure thing that we don't make the playoffs this year or next year, so that pick isn't going anywhere anytime soon. If Cousins pans out, we might squeak into the playoffs in 2014/15, at which point, we won't mind so much giving up the 16th or so pick in the draft.

I'm right there with you, Nate. It's the old risk vs. reward argument and I see the reward of Cousins becoming the player his potential dictates far outweighing the risk of him being a disappointment and us losing out on the next Jan Vesely or Tomas Satoransky.

Get Derrick Williams and Cousins, go into next season with some major potential and see how it goes. That team with a healthy Wall will be so much fun to watch.
