I would love to see the team efficiency stats on offense when Novak is on the floor.

Not +/- but actual percents.

I'm not worried about Novak missing. I'm worried about Novak getting like 3 shots off per 30 minutes. Even if he made all three, questionable whether he's even worth it... And most of his 3s nowadays are coming off some fluke play where he's left open on a fast break or random rebound.

If I'm reading that right its safe to say they're better when he's off the court?

I'll be fair and chalk it up as playing too many minutes.

Novak is typically guarding the worst player on the other team. His rating is smoke and mirrors. Honestly, what Steve worked on in the summer has really hurt him in the season. His shot was basically what it was, repetition. He changed it this year, and we are seeing the problems. The good thing, is that if Steve comes out of this, he will be a MUCH better offensive threat. What I would like to see is for him to crash the boards. Just to aggressively box out once in a while would be nice. Steve looks like he has never seen a weight room. I think the appeal to Novak last season was that he looked like a fan who checked in the game and made all his shots. This season we have expectations, and Novak is who he has been his whole career.

If Novak ever learns to EMBRACE contact, he will be a better player for it.

SO Novak is a good defender because everyone knows hes a bad defender which sometimes leads to bad shots? Makes sense to me.

Well to be fair, how many times have you seen guys go crazy for a mis-match?

"Oh look, there is a pg on a pf! feed the pf the ball!! "

then the team loses the ball, or forces the issue, and the team defense creates a miss. Or guy gets doubled and passes to someone else for the score "Hey novaks guy didnt score"

This is a lovely article. Psychology at its finest.

Celtics just passed the ball to whoever Novak was guarding. He's a huge target for opposing teams for easy points.

I thought his D last year wasn't bad ~ perhaps its a lack of chemistry or coaching isn't doing a good job of developing his D. Then again how long has Amare been with the Knicks?

Does anyone have a video or gif of Woodson telling Novak "I'm so sick of you" tonight?

He was +9 when he was on the court tonight. He and Pablo are getting the short end of the stick from Woodson. I don't think it is prejudice though.

I dont really have complaints about todays game but i'm just surprised how Novak couldnt help out during this game. The ball movement was at its best and STILL Novak couldnt contribute. All ya'll Novak defenders kept saying "they need to move the ball for it to work."

Whats your excuse now? He was wide open plenty of times. Unbelievable.

put pressure on him and make him put the ball on the floor, dudes pretty much useless

im sure he'll get his shot back, look at Kidd, but really, two guys who cant contribute much of anything else if they dont knock down their shots
