A description:

"Parker dislocated her left shoulder in the first half against Texas A&M. Parker had just stolen the ball and was dribbling up the court when she curled to the side and stopped. A team trainer met her on the court and escorted her to the locker room with 3:50 remaining in the first half.

Parker returned to the bench a minute later and checked in at the first opportunity, but then clutched the shoulder again while trying to deflect a pass. Parker returned to the locker room with 15.6 seconds left, returned for the second half, and was able to play the final 10:39 with a sleeve on her shoulder."

She went on to win the championship and to play two seasons in the WNBA with the shoulder popping out from time to time. Finally she had a really bad dislocation and finally agreed to surgery in 2010, which appears to have repaired it.

I bring this up because Glen's injury seems to be similar. There's one big difference though. Candace is a string bean. Glen's huge muscles may be able to hold the shoulder in place without surgery.

I had a very similar injury in university. Did it whilst I was surfing, and it took weeks for the pain to subside. I've never been patient enough to rehab it properly, but I've done enough appropriate weight training over the last decade that it should have strengthened the area, but it still feels like a threat to dislocate if put under the wrong pressure.

In terms of basketball, it killed my ability to get my left arm up quickly for blocks and steals, and my offense was limited to layups and short one handed jumpers. Mind you, I didn't have millions of dollars invested in my recovery, but it will be interesting to see how Davis comes back from this.

I kept an eye on him some games and he is pretty good. I am excited to see what he can do with extended minutes. He played decent as a starter in L.A. and has publicly stated he wants to be a starter somewhere (I think).

McRoberts is a more efficient offensive player and Nicholson is the outright better player so barring some unforeseen loss of leadership or energy Baby missing time could work in our favor. Bringing Hedo back as well could imply that there is indeed some hope for our 29th worst offense.

Here is the O-Sen story:
O-Sen LINK

“After further evaluation by our medical staff, Glen Davis has been diagnosed with a left shoulder sprain,” Hennigan said in a statement. “The MRI showed no significant structural damage. He will be treated non-operatively. Treatment will include rest and subsequent strengthening of the muscles around his shoulder. His return will depend on progress made during his rehabilitation.”

The story speculates that it is possible that this is from a separated shoulder. One month was tossed around as a recovery speculation.

this will be a real test for Nicholson, and whether or not he can handle NBA starters, night in and night out. offensively we may be able to get by, but our defense will take a big hit - especially if Hedo is rushed back.

He's been getting 33mpg on the number 6 defense in the NBA, so I won't go so far as to discount his defensive impact... then again I have a very hard time attributing that success over much to him. My thoughts are that Ayon and O'Quinn, not to mention Nicholson, are all better defensively, if not on technique then at on talent, and will hold up the defense without him, and that while McRoberts and Hedo will hurt our defense their offense will balance it out if not make up for it. I genuinely think that on talent taking out Baby and giving his minutes to Nicholson/Ayon/McRoberts/O'Quinn will make us better, the question is if we don't get screwed in the chemistry/intangibles department.

I'd go with

PG: Nelson
SG: Afflalo
SF: McRoberts
PF: Ayon
C: Vuc

Baby's loss will be felt most on the defensive end as he is difficult to post up against do his bulk. Ayon is the best option to mitigate that.

Plus, with both him and McRoberts starting the ball movement will be better with the starters (as it is with 2nd unit). McRoberts also adds another outside shooter if played at the 3, he might be limited in doing so if played at PF.

I'm not comfortable with Andrew starting yet, mainly for defensive reasons, but also him and Redick have a tremendous chemistry with the 2nd unit that would be lost. The play a really nice two-man game at times.

Nah, we just think you're crazy in general. ;)

In other news. Anyone checking out Brandon Bass? He's having a pretty craptastic year so far. 8.4ppg, 5.4 rpg. Give Otis some credit I suppose for making the exchange to get BBD.

hedo is going to help the team with his ball handling and shooting, don't write his obituary yet

I think if you put McGee back then, he would get those blocks just as easily as Russell did. Russell's athleticism was well ahead of the players of his time, and that's about it.

Yes, you are right about that. Bass had, on paper, a higher ceiling, but BBD is a much more productive player.
Otis did well on that one.

I hope BBD isn't masking the pain or discomfort to fool doctors and rush back to the court. I can see an emotionally vested team Captain trying to do that due his desire to help the team. But, I don't want to see him end up out for a longer time or get hurt worse.

awesome news... I can't wait to have Davis back in the front-court with Vuc.
