this lakers team wasn't cracking the WCF regardless if dwight and pau are 100% healthy

probably the 3rd straight WCF-less season for da black mamba

and Jonas played another 1-2 plays with a fractured hand.
and RGIII played most of a football game with a bum/torn knee.

what's your point?

Does PHX have LA's unprotected 1st in 2013?

The L.A. Lakers will send the least favorable of their own 1st round pick (top-14 protected), Cleveland's own 2013 1st round pick, Sacramento's own 1st round pick (top-13 protected) and Miami's 2013 1st round pick to Phoenix. If the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick is within the top-14 selections, Phoenix will automatically receive the L.A. Lakers' 1st round pick. [L.A. Lakers-Phoenix, 7/11/2012]

This sucks only in that the Lakers will use these injuries as an excuse as to why they crashed and burned this year, conveniently forgetting that they were crashing and burning with everyone healthy. They would have been life and death to make the playoffs with or without Howard and Gasol. I was looking forward to them squeaking into the playoffs and getting bitch slapped by the Spurs or Thunder in the 1st round.

What a poorly constructed team. Nash going there made little sense, even with D'antoni there he still can't play with Kobe, they just don't mesh. I bet Nash regrets not going to Toronto now.

Hahaha this did not even cross my mind before now. So if the Lakers finish out of the playoffs and get a lottery pick, they lose it to Phoenix? Talk about a deal for the Suns. :D

Also: wait, do the Lakers own both Cleveland and Sacramento's 2013 1st?? Say it ain't so. :-?

AFAIK, if Lakers miss playoffs, pick goes to Phoenix. If Lakers make the playoffs, it goes to Cleveland

No, it's the Cavs that are owed a pick from the Kings and Heat. If the Lakers make the playoffs the Cavs have the right to switch their least favorable pick(likely Heat) with the Lakers pick if they choose and that pick would then be sent to the Suns. If the Lakers miss the playoffs they send their pick directly to Phoenix and the Cavs lose the right to swap picks.

Suns also have the Lakers unprotected 2015 pick.

Do the Lakers have their first-rounder this year? It's starting to look like it will be a good pick

For a team with championship aspiration, they may not even make the playoffs. That's a disaster.

If Howard signs with another team, they may be in for a long rebuilding phase whether they want to or not. The Lakers can't run, defend, has no depth and they are old.

I expected Nash, Kobe and Pau to miss games with injuries but not Dwight. Him not being 100% and now out is going to hurt them big time. More losses to come and soon their playoff hopes are gonna dwindle.

Errrr, except 98% of free agents in the league want to play for the Lakers?
