How good is Larry Sanders

Im not a milwaukee fan, but his stats look pretty good for his minutes, and he gets a good amount of blocked shots. How is the eye test on this guy, and do you think he deserves more minutes?

Incredible defensive presence often mitigated by no discernable ability on offense. Sanders and Udoh should be splitting the center minutes, the challenge being finding combinations of players to team them with that makes their lack of offense less of an issue.

Ibaka is a better offensive player now without question. Although Sanders vs. Ibaka's year 3 numbers are very similar in terms of PPG/efficiency.

Ibaka: 12.1 ppg @ .556 TS
Sanders: 11.7 ppg @ .556 TS

Admittedly, Ibaka has made a pretty decent year 4 leap (16.4 ppg @ .614 TS). Hopefully Larry can make a similar leap despite being 2 years older in terms of respective years.

I mean, look at Ibaka percetanges throughout his career outside of the paint. He has a very good jumper, Sanders does not. Both are garbage guys in the paint but Ibaka is a much more rounded player on offense.

Yup. He should be getting 30-35 if he can avoid foul trouble. Udoh can take the rest. This shouldn't be an even split. Sanders is much better.

A grossly overrated player who looks good on the Bucks because they have the least amount of talent in the league. Also, bound to be paid by newly minted John Hammond with a $60 million contract.

I said last season I thought Sanders could follow a similar trajectory that Ibaka enjoyed and nobody agreed with me.

As of today, I'd agree. I believe his jumper has improved between year 3 and year 4 though.

Pretty much. EDIT: let me qualify this. Sanders can sometimes play tough but is too dumb to harness it into anything resembling an advantage.

This really isn't true. If you want to include the backcourt in the above, I won't argue. But Sanders being near the lead league in blocks and defensive rating has little to do with how bad the Bucks are.

There seems to be a mentality from some that says, Bucks = bad, therefore, every Bucks player = bad. Not how it works.

I still don't see Larry making a jump to that level of discipline, coordination, and ability to finish around the rim. Although there are things Larry excels at now at a higher rate than Ibaka, I'd probably put Ibaka as one floor above Larry's ultimate ceiling. Here's to hoping Larry proves me wrong.
