Rumor: Wolves Looking for a Big Man?

Post#1 » by shrink » Wed Jan 9, 2013 12:48 am

Darren Wolfson 1500 ESPN wrote:Not that the Wolves don't like Gay, but the source indicated that finding a big man is the more pressing priority.

That's because All-Star Kevin Love could be lost for the season after re-fracturing the third metacarpal bone in his right hand last week.

It's also possible Love's New York City doctor will advise against surgery. But if surgery is necessary, Love will be gone for a minimum of three months, the source said.

The source said there's a far better likelihood than not that some sort of trade happens. The deadline is Feb. 21.

I just read that Kahn said they wouldn't necessarily be looking at a big man--indicating perhaps a SG.

I'd hope they'd look to upgrade the back up Center position before the PF spot.

3 months for surgery on broke hand? Are they replacing his hand with a robotic one?

It's too bad Jordan Hill accepted less money to play in LA.

It would be someone who can play both

It was supposed to be two months the first time (6-8 months), so it sounds right

I believe the healing time on hand surgery is only minimally longer than without surgery. Maybe this part of the hand is more difficult to operate on.

Mozgov is the third center on the Nuggets. Would be an interesting get. He's not a 4/5 though.

Lakers might have moved Hill earlier in the year, but probably not now seeing that Pau sucks and Howard is injured.

But how many players who really play the 4/5 are attainable and an upgrade over what we really have?

I still think a sg is a higher priority.

Just a thought...

With MEM wanting to blow it up, might little Gasol be an option? A resigned Pek at his max would be similar salary as Gasol, but people don't think Pek will get the max. So that saves them money.

Marc would be the ideal Adelman center.

mozgov would be a good get...having 3 russians would also be an added bonus. we have plenty of pf's so i'm not worried at all about that spot with ak, dc and dw all able to play there fine. is hassan whiteside still a free agent? not that he'd be able to play right away but he's a big body who could probably give 5-10 minutes while leaving the rest of back up minutes to dc or lou.

Absolutely. Someone who can knock down a three consistently.
