CBS report: Grizzlies also considering moving Z-Bo

Post#1 » by WhamBamSlamm » Wed Jan 9, 2013 12:50 am

Griz CEO Jason Levien, whom principal owner Robert Pera has entrusted to run the franchise, is gauging the value of several players on the roster. There also have been exploratory trade conversations centered on forward Zach Randolph.

The Sacramento Kings are one of the teams that the Griz recently held preliminary talks with, according to a league source.

Thoughts?

good lord.... The Griz have a team that can be doing damage this season. Zbo is a HUGE part of that. Zbo/Gasol makes that team beastly. They move Zbo man... cellar dwellers for life. May as well pack the team up cuz they'd be heading for Virginia Beach

What do you think about @kporzee? Karl-Anthony Towns: PorzinGOD does not care or need my opinion for he is a higher life form then all of us.

Cheap small market team that's unwilling to withstand the tax penalties required to field an elite team with elite players under the new CBA. Nothing new here.

They're not championship contenders and likely never will be, with Randolph aging, and him and Gay making the money they make. If they can cut costs and remain in the playoff race, it's worth it for sure. They're like the late-2000s-Hawks of the West as it stands.

:D
That would be epic but I imagine that Sacramento is just the first place that Levien starts with every potential trade given his contacts here. Then again, I thought that he hated Sacramento :dontknow:

The new CBA was supposed to prevent this kind of small market team implosion from happening, but instead it's encouraging the damn thing. big smh

Why are they trying to destroy a team that looks to make a deep run in the playoffs? Rudy Gay, Z-Bo... trading away all of their assets to rebuild seems stupid to me.

How? They went further than the Hawks ever did. They went to the 2nd round and nearly the WCF as an 8th seed. They are pieces away from being a championship team.

This makes no sense if they are committed to winning.

Hollinger makes sense for shopping Gay, but Zbo has good stats. His 20.1 PER is best on the team.

In all seriousness, Pau would go into full-on beast mode if he were teamed up with Marc back in Memphis.

And Dudley would be a wonderful replacement for Gay.

Overall, exchanging Z-Bo/Gay for Pau/Dudley/1st (with Beasley probably thrown in as salary filler) makes Memphis better imo.

I think management doesn't believe the current team can beat the Clippers or Thunder in the second round.
