It'd have to be some sort of variation on the TOR/DEN/MEM trade scenario, which was:
DEN in: Andrea + Anderson, DEN out: Chandler + Mozgov
MEM in: Chandler + Jose, MEM out: Gay (+ maybe Bayless)
TOR in: Gay + Mozgov (+ maybe Bayless), TOR out: Andrea + Jose + Anderson
Utah needs a SG, so Ross would undoubtedly be of interest: cheap, young and good potential. Would we do it though?
The above lineup is pretty good and is definitely a win-now team, apart from Jonas. That's putting a lot of pressure on him, which frankly I don't think he can handle right now. He's not ready to play NBA playoff ball and we'd be disappointed with the results. On the other hand, if we're confident he can produce at a starting center level next year, then we'd have to be confident we could re-sign Milsap, and we'd have to get approval from ownership to not worry about going over the luxury cap down the road.
That's a team with 3 borderline All-star level guys in Lowry, Gay and Milsap in their prime (26-27 years old), plus 2 very young guys with (the dreaded word) potential. It isn't the worst way to go, as rebuilding thru the draft is a total crap shoot and you're never remotely confident of first, getting into a position to draft a potential star and second, picking a guy who ends up being better than Lowry and Gay and Milsap.
