Son of Eackles! That looks like "prison weight": lotsa lifting, very little cardio. :P

Eh, I think he'll be fine. I don't think he looks that much different than, say, a shirtless Chris Paul would.

Looks like he could stand to lose 5-10 pounds. That's to be expected since he couldn't do much cardio.

But folks expecting 20 & 10 right out the gate may be disappointed.

yeah, during the game, they showed a clip of him at shoot around before the OKC game...had his shirt off, working on his jump shot. the first thing i said was...he's fat!

funny how age changes one's perspective 'cause when I saw the pix
I thought he looked ripped. Then again, the guy I see most with his
shirt off is me in the mirror.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wiz ... -saturday/

“It is possible but not quite certain, for the first time all season, that we could dress all of our players,” Leonsis wrote. “I don’t want to jinx it, but we are all hoping that is what we will see.”

---

They have until Friday to get in practices. Now if Trevor A was ready to play the game before but didn't, I don't see how they bring Wall back on such short notice. Sounds like Ted trying to see some seats and get people excited knowing he will be returning soon. No NHL and a bad start of the Wiz has gotta be hitting the pocket.

Not saying he couldn't play but why push it. Give his joints and muscles a little more time to adjust. I would suit him up and have him ready, but I wouldn't play him unless there was a specific need.

They just beat OKC. Go with what you had last game that worked. RG3 and Cpt Kirk comes to mind. Why rush it. You know what I mean ? Temple and Price handled the PG duties just fine last game.

I would rather he return at ORL or SAC.

This video is to funny. Now we know where the John Wall belly came from.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

:-?

Perhaps this is part of some transformation to becoming and looking like a shooter as opposed to a guy who gets by on athleticism. A doughy, non-athletic looking dude is always the player you cannot leave open. John Wall looks like a shooter right now and nothing like a world class athlete who makes millions.

Wall could be in worse shape.

:o

Wall needs to tighten up. He doesn't want to end up like the athlete above.
Bye bye Beal.

Wow... People need to relax. People need to realize that he wasn't allowed to do any type of physical activity for months right? He will get back in shape, this is nothing to worry about.

It's still a drastic transition from his previous shape.

At this point, I'd let him come back after All-Star game and with limit on minutes.

I'm not worried because our team sucks so we have nothing to look forward too.

I'd have Wall come back after the All-Star break. That way he can condition. When he does come back I'd likely limit his minutes. Sadly, with Randy who knows what the hell is going to happen. Rotations don't exist with him. To his credit I'll admit there isn't a true rotation with this team right now.

I agree that it's not a huge deal. I'm sure he'll get the extra weight off pretty quickly. But I'm not ready to dismiss it completely. As a professional athlete being paid millions, Wall has a duty to keep himself in the best shape possible. He may not have been able to run, but he was permitted to swim and probably was permitted to bike. I think he put on a bit more weight than a responsible person in his situation should have.

Wall needs to start taking care of his body. He needs to eat better.

nate, as a workout warrior understands the importance of proper nutrition and fitness. Wall is very young and the sooner he gets it the longer his career will last. Part of wellness is prevention.

To be truthful, I currently look more like the last athlete. I got sick a couple months back with pneumonia. I hadn't worked out much before that and in the last 2-3 months, I have gained 15 pounds. So, as the saying goes, "Physician, heal thy self."

Apologies to John Wall, who I bet will run that off in 3-4 weeks.
Bye bye Beal.

He looks like he put on muscle, got out of condition and gained a bit of fat. I looked the same way a week ago after basically doing the same thing and lost it all in like a week. He's going to be fine and this is a non issue.

I'm sure the doctors limited what Wall could do as it related to running and other exercises that put stress on his knee. So I'm not surprised he isn't in great shape.

Yes, Wall could have swam (do we even know if John can swim?) or rode a bike. But neither of those things come close to keeping weight off in the way that running does.

JW will be fine....can't wait to see him and Double B together.

I'm not particularly worried about Wall's weight. He's young and when he gets back to running regularly, the extra pounds will come off.

I do wonder if the Wizards gave him any diet suggestions. People transitioning abruptly from high activity to no activity have a tendency to gain weight. Knowing that, it would seem sensible for the team's training/medical staff to tell Wall how he should eat to avoid pudging up. Nutrition instructions would seem like good standard operating procedure for every player on the team.

That's not 4-5 lbs of fat. That's like 10-15 lbs of flab. It'll take probably closer to month than a week to lose it. However, I'm just being a contrarian. It's not a huge issue but he will look super slow and rusty out there for at least the first 3-4 games as expected.

That may be a good thing though. It'll force him to rely on his Rondo-skills.
