Phx and BK say hell yess
Lakers and Grizz decline

Send the Lakers back some picks from Phx, including their own, then maybe.

Creative trade and a very good one, I have a hard time finding a hole in it, good job,

I disagree that both the Lakers and Grizzlies refuse this deal.

Gortat is an ideal pick-and-roll partner for Nash, they upgrade MWP to Gay and get a lottery pick. The Suns won't send back their picks, especially not in this deal.

Memphis get Wallace a hardworker replacement for Gay, Brown is a servicable backup and the picks make up the youth that they lose with Gay.

I can't see the Lakers downgrading their center for what they gain in Gay. Plus that doesn't give them a true player to build around in the future. So no

Does Memphis need to improve their defense?

I thought they needed shooters

Not bad value-wise for all involved. Can't say that about most of the trades on this board.

Suns don't want to help the Lakers get healthy. They want the Lakers to miss the Playoffs so PHX gets their lottery pick.

Change Duhon to Blake to add to LA's benefit and I'm sold (no pick needed).

If Howard was locked in for 3-4 years... you'd have a case for Lakers wanting picks as they have leverage..

but with Howard expiring and a FA... Lakers would be better off looking for a big man and another contributor locked in whilst Kobe, Nash, Gasol core can compete.

Not a chance in hell. I don't like it for the Suns as is, then you want us to include picks? PLEASE!
Lopez has been nice, sure. Let's not forget though that the injury concerns have not disappeared, and he's paid a max salary. He's not a number 1 option, probably never will be, and we don't have anyone else that can be that for us. Add in the fact that we like to run and Lopez is slower than a sloth, and we're just not interested.

He's not a good fit, he's overpaid, and he has injury concerns. I'll stick with Gortat and possibly be happier taking on Gay, who's locked in for less years and doesn't have the injury concerns. :)

Fair points. Realize though that IF the Lakers trade Dwight, it'll be at the trade deadline, with playoff hopes already effectively dashed. I don't think that PHX would be helping LAL keep its pick.

This deal would help LAL recoup something substantial for Howard before he bolts, and prep for next season. As an unrestricted FA with a dozen willing to move mountains to sign him, Dwight has other options. He is NOT staying in LA for a team that can't maximize his strengths, and is getting ancient. With a reunited Nash/Gortat P&R combo and an offseason work out the Jordan/Pippen dynamic of Kobe and Gay, the could be a force in 2014.

Phoenix says hell yes. Lakers still don't improve the bench though, which has been a problem for them this season

It's good value but I wouldn't do something like this until the summer.

This.

Without any commitment for Dwight, the Lakers don't have the cards. Unless, they let him walk for nothing...

Good trade for all parties imo.

I don't mind the basic structure or the overall value for the Griz, but I don't think we can afford to give up Bayless while only getting Duhon and Brown back - we need a legitimate backup combo guard, and I don't think either of those guys fits the bill, though I haven't followed them closely.

Can you suggest an additional deal to reroute one of those picks to get the griz a 20 mpg backup guard?

So, MEM is agreeable. LAL fans are coming around, it seems. I don't know how my fellow BRK feel about it, but I'd love to get more feedback from PHX fans. Is that Lakers' 1st really in jeopardy, before or after the deal?

Surprised Memphis likes this, Wallace is on the down slope of his career and he's Locked in for a 3 more years at 10 million. They also have problems scoring the ball and Wallace doesn't solve that for them. Two years ago, Wallace would've worked but I'm afraid Portland sapped a lot of his vitality. A side from that I think it's a good deal all around.
